About the Organisation:
Public Health Scotland launched 1st April 2020 as a national health board, employing around 1200 people, and with an annual budget of around £101 million. The Post:
We have an opportunity for a Narrative Development Manager in our Public Inquiries Team. The post is responsible for compiling statements in response to requests for evidence from public inquiries at UK and Scottish levels. The post supports other Public Health Scotland engagement with public inquiries, including supporting witnesses. The post supports curating the corporate memory and knowledge of Public Health Scotland.
The Candidate:
You will have experience and knowledge of policy matters in a public health or public policy environment. You will have degree-level qualification or equivalent and postgraduate level qualification or equivalent experience in these areas.
You can work in a multi-disciplinary environment, prioritising competing demands. You are experienced in working with the organisation’s leaders, directors and senior management teams, using facilitation and network-building skills, and negotiating effectively with colleagues across the organisation. You will be experienced in managing multiple demands of a post with clarity and skill in order to ensure that results are achieved to a high standard and to time. You will be skilled in dealing with people and a team player; and in managing issues that impact on business-critical work of the organisation.
Location and Working Pattern:
This is a full time post Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week.
PHS is currently hybrid working; being a blend of home and office based. The location for this post can be Glasgow or Edinburgh.
PHS supports flexible working and we are happy to discuss requests for alternative working patterns.
During times of public health emergency, or other urgent business need, you may be required on a temporary basis to work your normal contracted working hours over 7 days including weekends, in order to meet the needs of the service.
Please note that PHS is currently in the process of relocating from Central Quay, Glasgow to Bothwell Street, Glasgow in 2025.
It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with PHS.
