Financial Analyst FP&A sought for 12-month contract position in Forfar and Montrose offices, assisting with financial planning and analysis for two ledgers (UK and Baku) with a strong emphasis on local business partnering.
The role involves assisting with financial planning and analysis tasks for two ledgers (UK and Baku) across various departments, supporting the local management team with reporting, analysis, and presentations on actual, forecast, and planned numbers. Key responsibilities include:
* Assisting with financial planning and analysis tasks for two ledgers (UK and Baku) across various departments.
* Supporting the local management team with reporting, analysis, and presentations on actual, forecast, and planned numbers.
* Reviewing ongoing projects for the relevant business units, ensuring timely and accurate revenue and cost recognition.
* Assisting in completing and reviewing monthly P&L and management reports and in preparing variance analysis for the FP&A Manager.
* Preparing labour recovery reconciliations for several business units and assisting the FP&A Manager with their review.
* Reviewing aged WIP and providing commentary to ensure projects are completed in a timely manner, feeding this into the accounting team for SOX compliance.
* Reviewing and reconciling relevant contract assets and liabilities sections, including aging monitoring and commentary.
* Conducting monthly working capital analysis and providing commentary.
* Monitoring monthly Capex spend and forecast against budget.
* Assisting with monthly forecast and annual financial plan preparation.
* Building strong working relationships with team members and business partners.
* Proactively analysing cost trends within the departmental P&Ls.
* Identifying efficiencies and continuous improvement in FP&A systems and reporting procedures.
Accounting tasks include:
* Preparation and posting of monthly journals related to FP&A areas.
* Balance sheet reconciliations.
* Supporting the business with information requests (e.g., external and internal auditors, tax, compliance, statutory accounting team).
* Collaborating with AR and AP departments as needed.
* Supporting month-end close and subsequent reporting.
* Other accounting and FP&A tasks as required.
Qualifications:
* Degree in Accountancy or Finance or equivalent.
Desirable qualifications include:
* Professional accountancy qualification such as CIMA / ACCA.
Experience:
* Experience as a business partner working with non-financial management.
* Experience working within known ERP systems.
Desirable experience includes:
* 3+ years of experience working in a financial/accounting environment within a larger entity.
* Experience with POC accounting methods.
* Experience working with Oracle and Glovia ERP systems.
Essential skills include:
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
* Excellent Excel skills.
* Strong communication and analytical skills.
