The Role JOB SUMMARY The European Business Development and Marketing Team (BDM) is a key component in the development of Skadden’s client relationships and brand across Europe. The BDM team consists of 18 professionals across six offices in the key economies on the continent with significant specialist expertise within the team across BD, Proposals, Media Relations, Events and Design. The Business Development & Marketing Project Manager role is a key specialist function within this team. The successful applicant will take a leading role across Europe specifically around supporting key BD initiatives and strategies and delivering cutting edge proposals, RFPs and other BD materials at the very highest level of the market. Skadden is a leading firm in Europe across a number of top level practice areas. Expertise in supporting BD initiatives and crafting high quality proposals in M&A, Private Equity, Corporate Finance, Capital Markets and several contentious areas will be vital. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Supports the delivery of practice-specific and cross-practice BD initiatives, including targeting, supervising research and the preparation of relevant BDM materials to support such initiatives Drafts and prepares high level pitches, brochures and BD presentations, working closely with relevant partners, the BDM Senior Managers and supported by a Marketing & Communications Coordinator, where relevant. Takes ownership for pitch/presentation content, drafting where necessary tailored text to convey Skadden's credentials to potential clients. Develops an understanding of Skadden's business in order to create authoritative and convincing materials that succinctly summarizes Skadden's capabilities and differentiate the Firm from competitors. Challenges existing templates and content to assist in improving the content of pitch materials. Takes an active role in laying out and amending marketing brochures and handouts, using Adobe InDesign and Illustrator; and Microsoft Power Point and Word, including working hand-in-hand with Skadden's dedicated European Graphic Designer. Compiles experience lists using the Firm's deals database and ensures this database, and attorney bios, are kept up to date with information from recent pitch responses. Collects European deal information, and builds up knowledge of the Firm's European business through deal memory, and updates Firm databases accordingly. Maintains frequently used documents (awards, quotes and accolades; deals master; practice area descriptions; lawyer biographies; and pitches prepared by marketing). Maintains European marketing materials on the Firm’s intranet and external website when updates are needed from live RFPs. Trains other team members on the use of PPT and InDesign and on ensuring editorial and pitch content is consistent and to a high standard. Trains other team members on the use of the Firm’s experience database and maintains accurate pitch records on InterAction. Complies with and understands Firm operation, policies and procedures.
