We’re looking for a Payroll Manager to oversee our end-to-end payroll process, ensuring accuracy, compliance with HMRC regulations, and timely payments through our payroll provider, ADP. In this role, you’ll manage payroll operations, monitor tax and pension contributions, and resolve any discrepancies while maintaining strict data confidentiality.

Reporting to: Head of Finance
Location: Crownhill, Milton Keynes / Hybrid Working (flexible is who we are, but we expect you to be in the office at least 3 days a week)
Working Hours: This is a part-time role of 20 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with flexibility between 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM. We’re happy to discuss the exact schedule to find what works best!
Key Responsibilities:
* Oversee end-to-end payroll process via third party (ADP), ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
* Ensure compliance with tax laws, regulations, and company policies.
* Process payroll adjustments, bonuses, and benefits deductions.
* Manage payroll reporting and reconciliations to support the month-end process.
* First port of call for payroll-related queries as part of the statutory audit.
* Oversee pension contributions, ensuring accurate and timely payments to Nest.
* Process statutory payments (PAYE, NI, etc.) and ensure compliance with government regulations.
* Stay up to date on legislative changes to ensure payroll compliance.
* Process and manage supplier invoices, ensuring accurate and timely payments via Moss expenses platform.
* Reconcile supplier accounts and resolve discrepancies.
* Work with internal teams to ensure all payments are authorised by budget holders before payment is made.
* Superuser for Moss expenses platform, looking for ways to innovate and improve process for paying employee expenses.
* First port of call for all queries relating to expense claims and company credit cards.
What we’re looking for:
To succeed in this role, you should bring:
* Previous payroll experience, with a strong understanding of end-to-end payroll processing.
* Experience handling payroll for salaried and hourly employees, including tax calculations, pension contributions, and statutory deductions (e.g., PAYE, NI, SSP, SMP).
* Experience supporting HR functions, such as onboarding, benefits administration, or employment contract reviews in relation to payroll.
* Good organisational skills, time management, clear communication style.
* Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve payroll discrepancies.
* Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
* Competent in Microsoft Office package software (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
