We are seeking a skilled Senior Service and Repair Engineer to join our Operations team in Salford, Manchester. In this role, you will be diagnosing and repairing a range of electronic circuit boards, as well as looking to enhance the department through continuous improvement activities. The successful candidate will need a degree or HND in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or be able to demonstrate the equivalent level of experience in this field.
Responsibilities
1. Diagnose a range of electronic circuit boards which are both analogue and digital.
2. Test circuit boards using test equipment including digital volt meters, oscilloscopes, etc., and diagnose to component level.
3. Repair circuit boards following diagnosis and subsequently retest.
4. Remove faulty components and replace with new using conventional and surface mount technology soldering equipment.
5. Inspect new production circuit boards.
6. Take part in the roll out of new product introduction acting as a central contact between production and development.
7. Document and store records of customer repaired equipment.
8. Maintain a tidy and safe working environment.
9. Train Repair technicians to enable them to perform repairs at the relevant level, fault finding techniques, and in the use of electronics equipment.
10. Meet the standard work requirements within the work area.
What You Need
1. Qualification (Degree, HND or equivalent) in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or demonstrable equivalent knowledge/expertise.
2. Extensive experience of working in an electronics workshop/laboratory environment.
3. Familiarity with surface mount technology and surface mount equipment.
4. Excellent soldering skills across a variety of through-hole and surface-mount components.
5. Ability to inspect and identify soldering quality issues on manufactured assemblies.
6. Capability to diagnose issues with analogue and digital, power and control circuits to component level using design data and laboratory test equipment.
