Receptionist/Administrator – Part Time

Job Summary
We are looking for a part time receptionist/administrator to join our hard working team. The successful applicant will have excellent communication/customer service skills, a good understanding of IT and administration. We prefer candidates to have experience of working in a GP surgery or a medical environment. Knowledge of the EMIS Clinical System would be an advantage. Enthusiasm and a good work ethic are also important to us.
The hours are spread between 7.15am and 7.00pm, Monday to Friday, and we need someone who can work within these times for at least 16 plus hours a week on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday (potentially more hours a week could be available). Details of the exact shifts will be provided.
Main Duties
1. To provide excellent patient service, being the first point of contact for our patients and external organisations both at the front desk and over the telephone.
2. To always be courteous and helpful to patients, visitors, and colleagues.
3. To update the appointment system.
4. To register new patients.
5. To support the clinical team as required.
6. To be aware of and follow practice policies and procedures.
7. To be flexible and support the reception/admin teams as necessary and in the event of staff sickness/annual leave be prepared to provide extra cover at short notice.
We are a busy surgery with 4 GP Partners, 2 salaried doctors, 2 Nurse Practitioners, and 4 members of the nursing team. We are a training practice for medical students. We value all members of the practice team.
