This new full-time position is based in Rugby community CAMHS.
The post holder is expected to work closely with the Multi-disciplinary Team (MDT). These teams provide care to community patients up to their 17thbirthday from North Warwickshire. The post holder’s primary responsibility will be to provide medical and psychiatric assessment and management of under 17 years patients with mental health problems. Apart from the assessment and treatment of routine patients, the post holder will be expected to conduct some semi urgent work which will consist of reviews of patients if needed and some Mental Health Act assessments of patients already open to the service.
• The assessment and management patients with mental health problems and those until the age of 17 yrs. arranging all investigations and treatment, including regular review based on clinical need.
• Medical care of patients with referral to/or advice from the GP and or other doctors where appropriate
• Commencing and supervising treatment, including medication and other psychological treatment programmes as indicated and or agreed with patients and members of the MDT team.
• Upkeep of medical case notes, review notes and investigation results.
• Participation in Mental Health Act assessments.
• Referring patients to other specialties and liaising with other agencies as appropriate.
• Preparing clinical letters or reports as required.
• Liaison with carers and family members as appropriate.
• Regular feedback to the MDT regarding patients progress.
• Attending handovers, case conferences, safeguarding or planning meetings and multidisciplinary team meetings and carrying out clinical work to deliver good quality clinical care, including follow up of patients.
• Maintaining clinical competence by participating in a programme of continuing professional development. This will include attendance at clinical meetings locally, relevant local seminars (e.g. Mental Health act refresher training) and to participate in clinical audit/Quality improvement projects.
• Study leave will be available for appropriate training opportunities.
