About us:
The Refugee Health Team operates out of two primary locations to better serve the community: Wallsend Campus and the Newcastle Community Health Centre. These facilities provide a central hub for delivering high-quality, compassionate care, ensuring accessibility for families from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
At these locations, the team works collaboratively to address the unique health needs of vulnerable families, offering a safe and welcoming environment that supports comprehensive child and family health services. With a focus on person-centered care, the team is dedicated to fostering health and well-being while empowering families to thrive in their new communities.
About the role:
As the Refugee Health Nurse, you will work as part of the Nurse-led Refugee Health team to provide evidence-based interventions appropriate to the needs of individuals and their families. You will be undertaking health and social assessments of newly arrived refugee clients through home visits and clinic appointments, while also being key to linking patients to other services and health advocacy on their behalf.
You will work collaboratively with a diverse range of health care providers including those in government, non-government, and community organisations; along with members of the multidisciplinary team in the planning, implementation, assessment, and evaluation of care within the unit/speciality to ensure optimal outcomes for vulnerable families.
About you:
We are seeking a compassionate, adaptable nurse to support the evolving needs of communities settling as humanitarian entrants. This role, backed by the Multicultural and Refugee Health Team and the NSW Refugee Health Service, focuses on providing person-centered care to culturally diverse families. Authorisation as a Nurse Immuniser is desirable, or a willingness to obtain it.
If you're ready to make a meaningful impact in a supportive, inclusive environment, join us!
Additional information:
* Candidates must be a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
* Eligibility to drive in NSW, with a current unrestricted NSW Drivers Licence.
* An eligibility list will be created for future permanent part time and temporary part time vacancies.
We are unable to accommodate visa sponsorship for applicants requiring a visa for this position.
