Are you an experienced Health & Safety Manager? Do you have experience working in an engineering/manufacturing environment? If so, our client is a manufacturing business that specializes in manufacturing consumer products and has grown steadily over the past 20 years.
They are looking for a motivated Health and Safety Manager to join them on a permanent basis, responsible for a multisite operation.
In this role, you will work with all departments to provide advice, ensuring the business meets its statutory and regulatory health and safety duties concerning property, employees, and residents, while ensuring the smooth and effective running of the department.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Manage First Aid and Fire Marshals, ill health and incidents, DSE Assessments, COSHH & Risk Assessments, Machinery & Vehicle Risk Assessments, and Facilities.
2. Meet monthly with Directors to discuss complex health and safety strategies, including policy formulation, auditing, management of risk, and training.
3. Oversee Health & Safety Champions in the business.
4. Ensure all subcontractors meet their legal duties in supplying insurance certificates and maintain health, safety, and environmental compliance.
5. Maintain and update policies, procedures, risk assessments, evacuation plans, and site manuals.
6. Conduct regular site inspections to check that policies and procedures are being properly implemented.
7. Develop and execute health and safety plans in the workplace according to legal guidelines.
8. Ensure that manual handling courses are carried out.
9. Lead health and safety initiatives in all areas.
10. Maintain awareness of new and existing relevant laws, rules, and regulations.
11. Conduct Health & Safety Audits and inspections to ensure site compliance with Health & Safety processes and procedures.
Experience required:
1. Knowledge and experience with UK Environmental, Health & Safety regulations and behaviour-based safety programs.
2. 2 - 5 years’ experience in environmental health & safety in a manufacturing operation.
3. NEBOSH General Certificate in Health and Safety.
4. Understanding of risk and COSHH management systems.
5. Excellent communication skills to communicate effectively in written and oral formats.
6. Self-motivated with the ability to plan and schedule tasks.
7. Effectively communicate and implement established Health & Safety procedures within the defined business areas.
