Job summary Liaison Psychiatry is the branch of psychiatry that specialises in the interface between medicine and psychiatry. We accept referrals from in-patient wards and the Emergency Department. These include requests for specialist mental health assessment and interventions to people of all ages from 18 upwards. The mental health presentations of those accessing our services are varied and include self-harm as well as both functional & organic mental illness. We provide a 24/7 comprehensive service to patients, clinicians and carers. This is an opportunity for a motivated and passionate Band 4 Assistant Practitioner to support people with mental health presentations. You will always work under the supervision of senior practitioners and will support the team in both the delivery of care, as well as the enhancement of positive relationships with our acute Trust colleagues as well as Devon Partnership Trust. The team consists of a number of disciplines including Nurses, Doctors, Social Workers and Occupational Therapists. The successful candidate will be well supported within the team and encouraged to develop their clinical competencies within a stimulating learning environment. Applicants must have already obtained a Foundation Degree in Health and Social Care or qualification to diploma level or equivalent. Main duties of the job The Assistant Practitioner is a development post and as such it is an expectation of the role that the post holder will either hold a Foundation Degree/ equivalent qualification The principal purpose of the job is to improve the health & wellbeing of people with a range of mental health difficulties. This will be achieved by: Active involvement in the delivery of high quality, safe and compassionate mental health services as an effective member of the multi-disciplinary team. Implementing specific assessment, review to individuals and groups within standard protocols, integrated care pathways and Recovery principles. Providing evidence based advice and consultancy to people who use the services, family members/ Carers within standard protocols. Organising and managing a defined caseload under distant guidance and work as lone workers where appropriate. The post holder will be accountable for their own actions within the delivery of this care. Seeking advice and expertise of a registered practitioner when required through the use of regular managerial and clinical supervision in accordance with Trust policy. Active involvement in the teaching and training of other Healthcare Assistants within the team to help support their development.
