This is your opportunity to play a part in this transformation!
We are looking for a Senior Design Engineer to join our team and be responsible for providing the design of technical solutions specifically for Severn Trent Water mains renewal programme, such as technical inputs to projects from feasibility, through to detailed design, construction, testing, commissioning, and handover.
EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW
As our new Senior Design Engineer, you’ll be responsible as a key point of contact for key stakeholders both internally and externally to understand the scope of the mains renewal schemes and agree design assessment and completion milestones with the programme team.
You will be integral in supporting the wider team and upskilling Assistant Design Engineers and Senior Design Engineers. Alongside approving feasibility assessments for Mains Renewal projects within the specified timelines and budget constraints, utilising both site inspections and data analysis.
Key Accountabilities:
1. Assist the Programme Team in defining the approach for each mains renewal scheme, ensuring both cost and time efficiencies. Contribute to the early development of commissioning plans and determine the appropriate solution, including costing and input to relevant papers and governance forums.
2. Conduct high-level appraisals and feasibility studies of conceptual designs to create innovative and efficient TOTEX solutions. Ensure design standards and assurance processes are followed and approve designs from internal or external designers.
3. Support in the creation of the new internal design process within Severn Trent. With the aim to automate high-volume regular tasks to create time-efficiencies and ensure that the design team work on areas with the highest risk and value.
4. Undertake proactive risk management, maintaining risk registers throughout the design feasibility and design process. Ensure Health and Safety considerations are integrated into the lifecycle of the mains renewal design and review potential delivery and operational risks.
5. Ensure the delivery of appropriate designs and specifications for subsequent delivery. Constructively review, validate internal and third-party designs, provide support to the programme team to ensure the solution is delivered, ensure the commissioning plan is agreed and design is per specification.
