Job summary The Ventilation Inpatient Care Team (VIC) are looking for a highly motivated forward thinking and proactive Manager to support the functioning of the VIC Unit. Based within the ward environment the post holder will be responsible for supporting the operational functioning of the Ventilation Service and will help support its development. The post holder will be responsible for inpatient referrals management supporting the ambulatory and off site set up of ventilation. They will be able to demonstrate their professional skills and competence in leadership, and planning/co- ordination. They will be responsible for ensuring appropriate information is readily available to members within the multi-disciplinary team and that this information is regularly updated. The post holder will attend the MDT and will be involved in supporting the elective admission and the discharge process and transfers, including liaising with the Discharge Planning Team, Doctors, Medical Social Workers (MSW), Nurses, OT and Physiotherapist. The post holder will liaise closely with the administration team members involved with NIV and related departments, providing admin support for the Ventilation Service. The postholder will support the tender process for the procurement of ventilators, consumables and other equipment. They will ensure an adequate stock of ventilators and other equipment and will maintain access to NHS supply chain and Oracle for ordering. Main duties of the job To work closely with Clinicians and aid working within the clinical governance framework. To ensure that inpatient referrals accepted into the Ventilation Unit meet the referral criteria, work is allocated and waiting lists are managed effectively and appropriately, escalating waiting challenges to the clinical lead and to Business Manager as required. Traditional outpatient referrals are dealt with by the PACs, consultants and physiotherapist To develop and maintain effective partnership between the service staff, patients and their families/carers, Primary Care Trusts and medical supplies and engineering. To ensure that trends in needs, service use and unmet need are collated and conveyed to the Clinical Lead and Operations Manager to inform the development of strategy, planning, commissioning and performance management. To liaise closely with the appropriate external agencies including GP's and ICB's involved with the patients using or requiring the Ventilation Service.
