IT Field Support Engineer Cardiff and Southwest £5,500-£7,000 yearly car allowance Were working with a market leading, billion-pound operation of a company, who are looking for an IT Field Engineer with 5 years experience. This role will be based in Cardiff, with regular visits around the Southwest region. Reporting To IT Regional Manager Role Overview Reporting to the IT Regional Manager you will be responsible for maintaining the computer systems and networks of the business. This will include installing and configuring computer systems, diagnosing hardware and software faults, and solving technical and application problems, either over the phone or in person to ensure users get maximum benefit. You will also need to proactivity engage with the business to help identify areas of improvements through both our infrastructure and process improvement projects. Key Responsibilities Regularly visit sites to engage with users face to face and proactivity evaluate any potential site improvements. Install and configure computer hardware operating systems and applications. Monitor and maintain computer systems and networks including switches, routers, servers, printers, other IT hardware and network patching. Application support and software installation Installation of Wi-Fi APs Talking users through a series of actions, either face-to-face or over the phone, to help set up systems or resolve issues. Troubleshoot system and network problems, diagnosing and solving hardware or software faults. Replace faulty equipment as required. Respond within agreed time limits to call-outs. Work continuously on assigned tasks/helpdesk tickets to completion (or referral to third parties, if appropriate) Support the roll-out of new applications. Support the roll-out of new sites either through acquisitions or organic growth. Proactively support company compliance to Health and Safety legislation through adherence to company polices, processes and practices Work closely with all members of the IT team across the group when required. Undertake any other activity as reasonably requested by management. Essential Skills Required In depth knowledge and experience of Desktops, Laptops Experience of Windows 10 and Windows 11 Office365 management and maintenance Application support and software installs. Knowledge of servers, Networks LAN/WAN, including cloud hosted solutions Knowledge of tablet/mobile phone support with both IOS and Android software Knowledge of MDT (Microsoft Deployment Tools) for building laptops and desktops Knowledge of firewalls, proxies, and antivirus software Ability to prioritise workload, be flexible in approach to problems and use own initiative to achieve results. Excellent communications skills Professionalism and confidence always. Desirable Skills Knowledge, experience, or qualification of the ITIL V4 Foundation practices, processes, and framework Knowledge of Sophos Antivirus software, Mimecast, PDQ, Logitech, and PowerShell Knowledge or experience of the Excalibur software program Knowledge of ManageEngine ServiceDesk Plus ticket logging system. Specific Features of this position Must have the flexibility to work in a dynamic company with a wide product range and approach their work with enthusiasm and a positive attitude. Must be able to manage their own schedule workload. Full Driving License Must be prepared to visit any sites across the group for short periods at short notice which may include overnight stays.
