Clinical:
1. Provide oncology advice to the relevant MDT and to patients with these cancers.
2. Planning, prescribing and supervision of radiotherapy.
3. Prescribing of and supervision of prescribing of chemotherapy.
4. On call cover for general oncological emergencies and provision of advice in and out of hours, to non-specialist teams managing patients with cancer.
5. Out-patient clinic, day unit and ward management.
Administrative:
1. Participation in the directorate clinical governance processes including reporting into the Trust mortality database.
2. Engagement with all the administrative electronic systems needed to deliver patient care.
Research:
1. There is an active research programme within the directorate with links to the Sir Bobby Robson Unit at Freeman Hospital, the late phase research team within the research and development directorate and to Newcastle University.
2. Contribution to the research programme or further developments and collaborations will be actively encouraged.
Teaching:
1. There will be opportunity to develop teaching skills within the directorate and within the wider trust environment.
2. Bedside and clinical teaching of undergraduate students will form part of the responsibilities of the consultant.
3. Clinical training and supervision of Trust junior doctors and Deanery trainees and AHCPs will be expected.
