Compass Academy is seeking to appoint an Assistant Vice Principal to contribute to the existing Leadership team to lead on the areas of Behaviour and Safeguarding. The successful candidate will have already demonstrated excellent leadership skills in their current or previous roles. As a leader you will be highly motivated, ambitious and driven. You will be an adaptive and creative thinker, and be able to strategically apply this to devising and implementing new initiatives. The successful candidate will be a highly visible part of our school community, an integral part of both the leadership and wider school teams. The successful candidate will lead and manage a highly skilled pastoral team and have experience of working with a variety of professionals. An understanding of trauma and the impact of adverse childhood experiences upon child development is desirable but can be provided through training. Existing experience and understanding of Autism and ADHD would be beneficial to the role. The role will require working with trauma informed assessment systems to target group and individual interventions. The successful candidate will need to engage with, and lead on, Safe Handling training and be confident in tailoring and delivering a range of CPD, both internally and externally (if required).
Compass Academy is a KS3 Alternative Provision academy which supports young people aged 11-14 years who are not able to engage with mainstream education. typically due to learning needs, significant trauma, or as a result of permanent exclusion. The core offer meets basic needs, allowing for greater levels of regulation and engagement. There is a strong focus on the assessment of need, breaking down barriers and developing the whole child. Preparing students, personally and academically, for the next stage of education is vitally important.
Strong communication and organisational skills are essential for this role. The successful candidate will be able to model the highest levels of professionalism, with both empathy and integrity, whilst building strong and key relationships with colleagues, our pupils, parents and commissioners.
