The Job To operate plant and machinery safely and effectively, ensuring that targets for volume, efficiency and feed quality are met. To ensure that feed is manufactured in a timely manner to meet customer needs. Portray a positive image of the company and its values in a professional manner at all times in a business-like manner. Ensure that operating instructions and procedures are followed so that plant and machinery are operated at optimum efficiency and finished product meets the quality and safety standards specified. Follow production plans unless prevented by operational circumstances, in which case advise the Blends Plant Supervisor. Take samples of all production runs and carry out tests as specified in any operating instructions. Maintain production records as required and ensure that information is accurate and properly recorded. Ensure that you are aware of quality standards and targets related to the job. Continuously monitor and maximise the performance of the plant. Report to the Blends Plant Supervisor any significant changes. Adopt a flexible approach to shifts to cover absence, demand and work required in other areas of the site to meet the needs of the business. Conduct physical stock counts to keep the system stock levels accurate. Ensure that all operating procedures and other legal and company requirements are adhered to in respect of ongoing compliance. This includes the UFAS accreditation. Participate in stocktaking on an as required basis. Notify the Blends Plant Supervisor of any unsafe or defects to site plant and machinery immediately. Carry out checks specified in the HACCP or Operating Procedures and record all relevant results and information. Carry out maintenance duties as required which are within your skills and ability, ensuring that you comply with all site and health and safety policies and procedures. Ensure that your work areas are kept clean and tidy and that waste is disposed of appropriately and responsibly. Comply with site security arrangements and report any security risks to the Blends Plant Supervisor immediately. Communicate effectively with other areas of the business. Immediately report any hazardous situation, environmental threat or feed safety hazard, which has not been previously assessed, to the appropriate Manager on site. Ensure that all contractors, customers and other visitors to the site are dealt with courteously and that they comply with Site Safety requirements. Adopt a flexible approach to cover absenteeism/demand and work required in other areas/locations to meet the needs of the business. Any other duties which might be reasonably requested in association with this job in order to meet the needs of the business. Take a proactive approach to your own continuous development and learning. Participate in training activities as agreed with your line manager and ensure that any training needs are advised to your line manager also. Adhere to Company and Group policies and procedures, including but not limited to those relating to Safety, Health and Environmental. To ensure all relevant legislation and approved codes of practice, are adhered to in respect of ongoing compliance, including but not limited to UFAS, FIAS, & NOPS assurance schemes. SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALITIES REQUIRED Essential Excellent Communication Skills Experience working in a busy manufacturing and/or agricultural environment. Basic level of IT literacy and ability to learn new systems. A proactive and flexible approach to work. A 'can do' attitude with the ability to work using your own initiative and as part of a team. Good numeracy skills. Basic mechanical skills. Desirable FLT Counterbalance Qualification Experience of working in an animal feed mill.
