Job Title: Small Works/Building Estimator

Job Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Small Works/Building Estimator to join a reputable contractor specialising in Mechanical, Electrical, and/or building works.
As a Principal Contractor, the company delivers a wide range of projects across sectors such as healthcare, education, housing, and commercial developments.
Project values typically range from £10,000 to £500,000. The successful candidate will be responsible for accurately estimating costs for building works associated with M&E projects.
This includes tasks such as:
* Removal and replacement of ceilings for new service installations.
* Pricing for new ceilings, flooring, partitions, doors, and windows.
* Boxing in of services.
* Making good rooms where new systems, such as radiators, have been installed.
Key Responsibilities:
* Prepare detailed cost estimates by analyzing proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
* Identify labor, material, and time requirements for each project.
* Compute costs by analyzing labor, material, and time requirements.
* Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure comprehensive and accurate estimates.
* Visit project sites to gather essential information for accurate estimations.
* Maintain relationships with subcontractors and vendors to obtain competitive pricing.
* Present prepared estimates by assembling and displaying numerical and descriptive information.
* Assist in project economic evaluations and offer value engineering ideas.
Qualifications:
* Proven experience as a Building Estimator or in a similar role in the construction industry.
* Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and legal guidelines.
* Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical documents.
* Excellent numerical skills and an analytical mindset.
* Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
* Proficiency in relevant estimating software and MS Office.
* Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field is preferred.
