Cardiac Cath Lab Nurse RELOCATION TO THE CARIBBEAN

Primary Role:
Provide exceptional patient care in an environment where quality, respect, caring, and compassion are at the center of all we do. The Cath lab Nurses primary role is assisting with catheterizations. Cardiac Cath lab nurses specialize in working with patients undergoing cardiac procedures in a catheterization lab.Procedures include (but are not limited to)Coronary Angiogram, PCI, balloon valvuloplasty, Left and right heart catheterization and pericardiocentesis.
Qualifications / Knowledge Requirements:
* Experience in Cardiology/ Cardiothoracic Unit for more than 5 years.
* Experience providing direct nursing care in cardiovascular and/or OR within the last 6 months required.
* Experience in a hospital setting and understanding of hospital operations is preferred.
* Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advance Cardiovascular Life Support (PALS) required by start date.
* License to practice nursing in the Island with the Nursing Council.
Responsibilities:
* Provides direct nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic adult cardiac catheterization procedures.
* Must take On-Call assignment (arrival at the Hospital & Facility within 20 minutes required).
* Ensure open and effective communication with patients, family/caregivers and all health care team members involved in the pre/intra/post-care of adult cardiac catheterization patients.
* Demonstrate competency in the following: Angiogram, Angioplasty, PCI, coronary stents, balloon valvuloplasty, Left and right heart Cath, pericardiocentesis, TPI, intra-aortic balloon pumps.
* Prepared for emergency situations.
* Examination of the patient pre- and post-catheterization.
* Transport patient to/from pre-post recovery and/or inpatient unit.
* Administer the intravenous and oral medications to patients.
* Manage the patients under procedural sedation.
* Circulating and scrubbing during cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology procedures
* Operate physiological recorder and printer to monitor electrocardiogram and hemodynamic data. Troubleshoot equipment issues and/or initiate repair.
* Operate intra-aortic balloon. Troubleshoot equipment issues and/or initiate repair.
* Actively monitor patients during adult cardiac catheterization procedures (vitals, etc.).
* Sheath removal and care of site to prevent hematoma and bleeding after achieving hemostasis.
* Participate in life-saving measures such as defibrillation and cardiopulmonary resuscitation as needed.
* Ensure adequate levels of all supplies are available in all procedural room(s). Stock as needed.
* Recognition and management of cardiac Arrhythmias.
* After the procedure, Cath lab nurses monitor the patients with continuous cardiac monitor, administering medications and updating the patients chart.
* During the recovery period, the Cath lab nurse watches for signs of Hematoma, bleeding, and infection.
* Apply nursing theory to the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of patient responses to health, illness, and procedure.
* Positively collaborate and coordinate the continuum of care within a multi-disciplinary team and across divisions/units.
* Perform patient care according to patient priority (includes interventions identified through nursing diagnoses), and departmental, divisional, and/or unit policies, procedures, and protocols to maintain safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
* Document/report interventions and patient/family response. Follow universal precautions.
* Precept new staff at the direction of the Procedural Nursing Manager and/or Procedural Clinical Practice Leader.
* Discharge teaching with patients and families including procedural, medications, activities, and dietary, follow up and provide post Cath instruction.
* Follow policies and procedures in accordance with the Hospital Cardiology/ AHA Guidelines.
* Demonstrate acceptance of responsibility; pride in work performed; flexibility in acceptance of assignments while consistently maintaining professional behavior and appearance.
* May be required to train and provide cross-coverage float to the Hospital Specialized Unit like Post-Recovery Unit, Med- Surge, and Fast Track.
* Required participation in night/weekend/holiday on-call assignment/coverage (arrival at the Hospital & Facility within 20 minutes required).
* Perform other duties as assigned.
* Capture Cardiac KPIs across the Hospital.
* Assist and Implement Cardiac policies and procedures joining with Cardiologist.
* Set guidelines and Protocols for staff training and Education.

Salary range:$72,000 USD to $79,000 USD (approx.) annually, no income tax.
Eligible for overtime
15 days paid leave per annum (leave increase by 5 days on 5th anniversary) + public holidays.
10 days paid sick leave per annum.
All other leave as per the labor law
Cost of work permit covered.
Cost of initial two-year practicing license covered.
Tuition reimbursement of up to $ 1,200 USD per annum
Health Insurance - The Hospital will cover 50% of the Standard Health Insurance Plan (SHIC Plus) plan for the employee only, the employee will be responsible for the remaining 50%.
Upon arrival on the Island the Hospital will provide temporary accommodation for a period of two weeks where a permanent move to accommodation cannot be made immediately. We can also put you in touch with a realtor who has helped/ is helping new joiners find accommodation.
