The role
* Responsible for the safe and efficient introduction of new automation onsite.
* Implement improvements and offer critical support to existing automation systems within manufacturing.
* Provide technical support and specification, including troubleshooting to automation projects and reactive work.
* Contribute to long term capital and revenue projects across site.
* Embed new ways of working and participate in continuous improvement activity.
* Provide mentorship to Apprentices within the Maintenance department.
* Participate in departmental meetings, including weekly RCA and monthly energy meetings.
* Assist in implementing workplace organisation within the Engineering department.
* Undertake relevant training in automation engineering and latest technology to ensure continuous professional development and role competence.
* Practice and uphold safe working practices in accordance with legislation and internal health and safety standards.
* Operate as a safety champion.
The profile
The successful candidate will have previous experience of operating within a fast-paced manufacturing environment and possess the ability and commitment to train colleagues within engineering to contribute to their continued professional development. An excellent communicator across all mediums with the ability to effectively plan and execute tasks and responsibilities in line with operational deadlines both autonomously and collaboratively.
The postholder will have experience in fault finding across both electrical and mechanical engineering with knowledge and experience in the practical application of the Electricity at Work Act 1989, PUWER 1998 and 18th Edition BS7671 Requirements for Electrical Installations. Robot and automation experience (Denso) and vision systems including Keyence and Cognex are desirable but not essential.
Experience in PLC, Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi, and Siemens is also advantageous.

* ONC Qualified (Mechanical or Electrical) (Minimum)
* HNC Qualified (Mechanical or Electrical) (Desirable)
* IOSH Managing Safely qualification (Desirable)
