A really fantastic opportunity for an electrically skilled Electrical-technical Service Engineer to join our client’s team to support their ongoing fulfilment operation at Portsmouth Naval base. The successful candidate will support site works teams by testing and repairing equipment within the stores area, ensuring that all assets and stocks are maintained and accounted for, and preparing equipment for installation and managing the return of the equipment, ready for the next installation.
Must be a UK citizen, as you will be required to undergo security clearance level SC pre-employment. Previous/current UK security clearance is essential.
Training will be provided.
Applications from suitably qualified ex-military personnel (Royal Air Force, Royal Navy, British Army, Royal Marines) will be particularly relevant for this position.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Ensure that equipment is tested and safe for use by carrying out thorough examinations and electrical safety tests by following in-house processes and the standards set within the relevant guidance.
2. Log defective and sub-standard equipment on the database and then be responsible for carrying out remedial repairs.
3. Carry out periodic stocktakes on Company assets and consumables to ensure consistent availability is maintained.
4. Prepare equipment for dispatch and manage the receival of deinstalled equipment.
5. Ensure equipment is cleaned and ready for use.
6. Maintain the stores area by keeping it tidy and organised.
7. Must be IT proficient with the ability to use MS programs such as MS Office and Outlook.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
1. NVQ level 3 (Electrical) - Essential
2. COMPEX EX01-04 - Desirable
3. Hold the 2377 City and Guilds qualification for Portable Appliance Testing - Desirable
4. Additional electrical qualifications - Desirable
5. General warehouse experience - Desirable
6. Problem solving and excellent communication skills
7. Ability to manage workload and working environment
8. Navy or shipyard experience - Essential
9. Good understanding of current health & safety regulations
10. Good interpersonal skills
11. Previous/current UK security clearance - Essential
