Salary: Starting off at £24,570 - £25,250 per annum (with the opportunity to progress up to £31,000 pa)

An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Racecard team who are responsible for producing raceday racecards for all British racecourses, including The Curragh, Punchestown & Down Royal in Ireland along with raceday content for the Emirates Racing Authority, The Bahrain Turf Club, The Jockey Club of Saudi Arabia and the Qatar Racing & Equestrian Club.
This position is being offered on a permanent basis, working 35 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm. There is also a requirement to work on Sundays and Bank Holidays which are split on a rota basis amongst the team. Lieu time is given for these additional hours.
The successful candidate will be office-based in Wellingborough for at least six-months during probation. After successfully completing probation, there is the option for hybrid working – three days in our Wellingborough Office and two days from home.
Key Responsibilities:
1. The role includes the compilation required in the daily production of racecards and the supply of racecard information to external racecard producers.
2. Undertake the required racecard copy preparation, editorial, proofing, and checking – ensuring that all work is carried out according to each racecourse’s specific instructions. 100% accuracy is required along with the ability to meet agreed timescales to ensure timely delivery of the racecards the following day.
3. Liaise with racecourse personnel, advertisers, and sponsors in an efficient and professional manner, ensuring that all requirements for each racecard have been completed 48hrs before raceday.
4. Ensure that every Racecard’s pagination is the most cost effective to produce for both Weatherbys and the racecourse and ensuring that racecourses are fully aware of the pagination of their Racecard on a meeting-by-meeting basis.
5. Ensure each individual racecourse’s data is kept up to date with the most recent racecard copy and ensure the removal of any outdated files from the racecourse directories.
6. Display an appropriate level of competence in all aspects of racecard compilation and be conversant and compliant with all racecard procedures in place within the area.
7. Liaise closely with other areas of the Printing Services department to ensure continuity of service is always maintained.
8. To research and write editorial content as and when required, including the sourcing of images from predetermined image libraries.
9. To assist with proof reading and checking of content for any job produced by the Printing Services department.
10. To provide support to other areas of the department as and when required.
11. To ensure the companies Health and Safety policy is adhered to.
Skill Requirements:
12. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
13. You will possess strong interpersonal skills and be a team player.
14. The ability to work flexibly to strict deadlines, under pressure and have a keen eye for detail.
15. A keen interest in the horse racing industry is essential.
16. The ability to write accurate and meaningful editorials for use in racecards and Weatherbys web-based products.
17. Previous experience of Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly InDesign would be beneficial but not essential as training will be given.
