Peri Support Worker (Initial Contact, Community and Accomodation Services) Hours: 22.5 per week, Monday-Friday (9am-4.30pm with the occasional 10.30am-6pm shift) Contract: Permanent Salary: £23,500 per annum (rising to £24,000 after successful completion of a 6-month probationary period) pro-rated Compulsory participation 2nd tier on-call rota All staff must work flexibly on occasions to meet the needs of the organisation Purpose of the Post To provide specialist trauma informed support to adults affected by Violence Against Women, Domestic Abuse and/or Sexual Violence To provide support and advice to women (and their children) who are accessing our service at the point of initial contact. Ensure immediate intervention, risk assessment and safety planning where needed To provide specialist support to women and children accessing accommodation and community services in Torfaen This role is split across our Hwb, community and accommodation projects and time spent in each may vary and will be responsive to need Specific Responsibilities Initial Contact Project Provide a friendly, accessible and responsive service to women contacting or referred to Cyfannol for support Provide planned, drop-in and emergency appointments in person at our Hwb, at any outreach centres and through online means when requested Provide a daily response to external referrals via Public Protection Notices (PPN) following currently agreed protocols Provide women with information, initial support needs assessment, risk assessment and safety planning services Assist women in identifying and managing any immediate safety and safeguarding concerns and support them to contact the police and social services if appropriate. (following all currently agreed protocols, especially where we have a duty to report even without consent) Provide signposting and referral to any external services the woman chooses to access, and coordinate access to internal services. When immediate emergency refuge accommodation is requested, assess the suitability for our own refuges, liaising with refuge team leader or service coordinator. If refuge is requested in another area, liaise appropriately with that agency and arrange transportation if needed Complete Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC) referrals for women experiencing high-risk Occasionally attend MARAC meetings, ensuring all research is completed beforehand, representing the woman, and ensuring completion of all tasks allocated to Cyfannol Manage the recording of all contact with, and work done for, the woman onto our Case Management System Collaborate and keep in touch with colleagues in our other Hwb’s, to ensure consistency of approach, sharing of information and providing virtual cover during absences Accomodation project Deliver specialist tailored support services to women and children who are accessing our services and contribute to the creation of safe, trauma informed, welcoming environments As a team, manage the referrals into the service, carrying out Initial Contact Assessments, risk assessments and safety plans with women to ascertain together which services they need immediately and the short-medium term Assist women and children to access dispersed refuge and set up together their licence and housing benefits and other paperwork with them Support women and children to undertake and engage in initial and on-going needs assessments and support plans Support, signpost and refer women and children to the services they wish to engage with for example social services, the police, parenting, health, legal, DWP, housing, homelessness, recreational, educational and cultural services and also Cyfannol’s other internal services Support women to maintain licence agreement and help them prepare for their next move on To act as an advocate on behalf of service user encouraging and supporting self-advocacy as appropriate Work with women and children in an empowering and engaging manner, as set out in our Model of Support policy Ensure accurate and timely records are maintained in relation to all aspects of the service and case work, including inputting information into our Information Management System Assist in producing qualitative and quantitative data, including for example, the creation of case studies To be fully aware of the child and adult protection/procedures in Cyfannol and report to line manager any concerns /issues in this area Support women and children to have a voice within the organisation and the sector, by for example, encouraging them to complete surveys, give feedback and attend associated events Assist in ensuring the safe and effective running of our dispersed refuges including organising reporting general maintenance/repair requirements, and carrying our room turnovers Community Project Manage a caseload of clients in refuge and the community Provide support to women to undertake and engage in initial and on-going needs assessments, risk assessments, safety plans and support plans Provide support, signpost and refer women and children to the services they wish to engage with for example social services, the police, parenting, health, legal, DWP, housing, homelessness, recreational, educational and cultural services and also CWA’s other internal services Provide empowering and engaging support to women as set out in our Model of Support policy It may be necessary, following consultation, to amend the job description in light of experience and changing circumstances Closing Date: 23rd September 2024 Due to the nature of these roles, they are only open to female applicants (Exempt under the Equality Act 2010, pursuant to Schedule 9, Part 1).
