About this Role
This is a fantastic opportunity for a Product Owner to work in a new cross-functional cross-sell product team, to lead the identification and commercialisation of new ideas that span across business lines or business entities and drive ambitious new growth opportunities.
You’ll work with various business leads, embedded UX and UI designers, front-and back-end developers, and as part of a larger set of teams working on exciting new value propositions and cross-sell product opportunities.
We're looking for an insight led, data-informed, curious, and commercial, and proactive team member who is passionate about customer-oriented innovation, that is desirable, feasible and viable, as part of a workstream to explore, validate and develop new value.
You are a Product Owner who is confident working in a fast-paced environment and within multi-disciplinary teams. You should be comfortable with ambiguity, a quick and curious learner, with a growth mindset, and able to build data analytics and testing capabilities.
You’ll collaborate with all squad members and other relevant stakeholders to ensure successful, high-quality, and commercially successful delivery on a sprint cadence.
You’ll also collaborate closely with business stakeholders to help with the understanding, creation, and maintenance of product roadmaps, and product and sprint backlogs. You’ll have accountability for translating customer and business needs into features / epics / stories. Finally, with our Scrum masters, our Product Owners are expected to collaborate with other teams, supporting the wider initiatives, and necessary change or delivery needs.
Key Responsibilities
1. Initially this work will be focused on the identification of the bets, and how these can be validated and understood, then championing the bet through to creating a squad for execution. Therefore understanding proposition development alongside product development is a must for this role.
2. Accountable for Squad work contributing to business vision and objectives. Participates in Sprint demos and demonstrates how Squad deliveries contribute to business objectives.
3. Works closely with the business on the upcoming priorities and supporting the roadmap definition, whilst engaging with the wider stakeholder community to understand requirements, and is responsible for running iterative/frequent interactions to ensure alignment with the business and stakeholders areas.
4. Elaborates/defines Features, Epics and user stories, in collaboration with the Technical leads, other Product Owners, squad members, and wider business community/stakeholders. Ensures user story completeness covering all aspects of internal and external stakeholders requirements, plus functional and non-functional requirements. Prepares refinement sessions to maximize the usage of time with the squad members.
5. Owns, manages and prioritises Squad backlog. Develops the acceptance criteria for user stories and works with the squad to ensure the criteria is met, whilst being an advocate for quality.
6. Works closely with the Squad, constructively challenges, and provides continuous feedback to ensure the Squad continuously improves. Stays actively involved with the Squad through the delivery, supporting the different roles by answering questions, and clarifying requirements plus acceptance criteria.
7. Triages and understands live incidents and bugs reported by different areas, and makes priority calls based on impact and urgency, whilst leading on the appropriate next steps to resolution.
8. Manages dependencies in collaboration with other Product Owners and Scrum Masters, whilst having the confidence to cooperate and agree a way forward when there are dependency conflicts.
9. Supports the wider Change delivery framework, to ensure Change is well controlled, consistent, visible, and transparent to other stakeholders, whilst also managing risks, assumptions, issues, and dependencies.
Skills and Qualifications
10. Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple workflows simultaneously.
11. Attention to detail, with a pragmatic mindset.
12. Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
13. Ability to learn and understand technology and products based on technological solutions.
14. Work experience in an agile set up where a Product Owner was present, or experience as Product Owner. Also, knowledge and experience in Agile practices and ways of working.
15. Experience with using Agile working tools ( Jira, or Azure DevOps, or similar).
16. Good understanding of typical Agile ways of working, roles and the required skills and capabilities within a scaled agile framework of Tribes and Squads.
17. Facilitating discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution.
18. Experience working in Financial Services, specifically experience within lending products.
19. Previous Business Analyst work experience and/or relevant qualification(s).
20. Experience working in companies that have Cloud-based technology solutions and delivery, including concepts like containerization, API management gateways, CI/CD pipelines, etc.
21. Experience working on transformational projects and/or re platforming efforts.
22. Experience in external and internal customers journey optimisation.
