Position Summary:
1. Perform Scheduled Heavy Maintenance and modification activities on the rolling stock in accordance with the vehicle maintenance instructions.
2. Undertake servicing and preparation of the rolling stock.
3. Undertake driving duties within depot confines in accordance with the depot operating procedures and instructions.
4. Actively participate in the ongoing continuous improvement activities for maintenance processes and maintenance procedures that support all depot and fleet activities.
5. Support the delivery of new trains and undertake the maintenance acceptance processes.
6. Ensure HM and modification tasks are being completed in a timely manner, undertake basic fault rectification or repair when required.
7. Adherence to all health and safety processes and procedures.
8. Attendance at testing locations, main line station and outstations to undertake preventative and corrective maintenance as required.
9. Must be prepared to travel and overnight away from base location for short periods of time.
10. Support the HM and Mods Team Leaders and Managers in the delivery of the HM and mods plan.
11. Record all work activities and stock consumption using the maintenance management system in accordance with maintenance processes and procedures.
12. Working shifts as required to meet the heavy maintenance service requirements of fleet customers.
13. Assist as required with any other responsibilities relevant to the role based on localised requirements.
Person Profile:
1. Can comfortably work within a team or on their own.
2. Sound knowledge of, and compliance to, rules and regulations (internal and external).
3. Able to always represent Hitachi in a professional manner.
4. Calm and diplomatic under pressure.
5. Ability to investigate complex electrical and mechanical faults and write detailed reports.
6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
7. Able to interface effectively with all levels of personnel both within and outside the company.
8. Loyal, committed, confident and determined.
Desirable Experience:
1. Intermediate IT skills - typically Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook.
2. Reading electrical, pneumatic, mechanical schematics and drawings reading.
3. Powered plant and tools - bogie drop, cranes, air systems / 110v tools.
4. Depot Protection.
5. Working at Height, COSHH, Manual handling, AC/DC Depot isolation.
Education level:
1. Served apprenticeship with mechanical, electrical disciplines.
2. Engineering based NVQ level 3.
