We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and organised sales person to join the award-winning Bloomsbury International Sales team (selling across our Adult and Children’s, Special Interest and Head of Zeus divisions) as International Sales Manager, reporting to the Head of International Sales.
Bloomsbury Publishing Plc is a leading independent publishing house, established in 1986, with authors who have won the Nobel, Pulitzer and Booker Prizes, and is the originating publisher and custodian of the Harry Potter series. Bloomsbury has offices in London, New York, New Delhi, Oxford and Sydney .
As International Sales Manager, you will be responsible for sales of Bloomsbury titles to Scandinavia and Southern Europe as well as to UK Exporters, managing direct sales relationships with a wide range of customers and providing them with exceptional customer service. You will provide feedback on your territories to colleagues across the company and represent the department at meetings with particular divisional responsibility for the Children’s Education list.
We are looking for a proactive candidate with strong commercial initiative and a love of books who will thrive in a fast-paced environment. Our ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2-3 years’ sales experience including managing accounts and be open to travel within the territory and to book fairs as required. We will consider exceptional candidates with less experience of direct account management.

The role
1. Pitching and presenting new books to customers and providing them with up-to-date information on new titles, this will include attending book fairs and visiting customers in territory.
2. Setting and reviewing sales targets and working directly with all customers to grow sales and achieve targets.
3. Agreeing promotions with customers, submissions for catalogues and any other marketing plans.
4. Dealing with orders, queries from customers and working closely with our distributor to ensure orders are delivered in a timely fashion.
5. Identifying and developing new relationships with potential customers, ensuring customer needs are understood and selecting appropriate product solutions.
6. Identifying ways in which Bloomsbury can increase market share in the designated territory, through further product development, distributor relations, sales events, and promotional campaigns.
7. Conducting competitive analysis and gathering market data to channel back to the International Sales team.
8. Acting as the departmental liaison with the Education team – attending divisional meetings and feeding back to the International Sales team on new products and opportunities in this division.

The role is a full-time permanent position
Salary Range: £30,500 - £36,000 depending on experience
The role is based at our London office 50 Bedford Square, London, WC1B 3DP on a hybrid-working pattern of 2 days office based / 3 days home based (or fully office based if preferred). Allocated office days for this role are: Monday and Tuesday.
