Job overview
The Homeless Hub is delighted to offer a secondment full-time position of mental health homeless practitioner within the Salford Dual Diagnosis Team due to maternity leave cover. This position is initially until the end of February 2025 but may be extended.
The successful candidate will support and strengthen existing links with support services and mental health treatment services within Salford. The post holder will be supported by a well-established, specialist multi-disciplinary, trauma-informed homeless mental health team and will work with individuals experiencing mental health problems. The team's role is to work with a range of partnership services and homeless individuals to assess and identify the appropriate treatment pathways to address unmet needs.
Offers are open to any qualified Mental Health Nurses, Social Workers, and Occupational Therapists who have active registration within the relevant body.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide community-based engagement and assessment to clients with complex mental health and substance misuse (dual diagnosis) needs in partnership with mental health and addiction services.
The post holder will be part of the Salford Dual Diagnosis Team and will work alongside council staff, drug and alcohol workers, police, and homeless outreach workers, providing mental health support to rough sleepers through drop-in clinics at day centres or directly on the street.
The post holder will be responsible for the assessment of mental health needs for homeless individuals who are not engaged with mainstream mental health services. The role will include active participation in the service planning and future development of mental health support for homeless individuals within the Salford district.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
* Pay Enhancements – 30% additional for Evenings (8pm onwards) and Saturdays and 60% additional for Sundays and Bank holidays.
* 27 days annual leave plus bank holidays, rising to 29 after 5 years and 33 days after 10 years.

Knowledge
* Experience and understanding of mental health and dual diagnosis.
* Experience of working in a community setting.
* Experience in the homeless sector.
