Job Summary
Auburn University Libraries is seeking applicants for the position of Student Assistant to work in the Resource Sharing Department. This position supports library resource sharing and document delivery by retrieving, processing, and shipping materials, managing electronic requests, maintaining accurate records, and providing professional communication.
Students may work up to 20 hours per week Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:30am and 4:30 pm.

Essential Functions
* Retrieving books and journals from the library stacks
* Checking books out to schools in Voyager (Library’s management system)
* Updating Resource Sharing and Document Delivery requests in ILLiad (Transaction system)
* Scanning journal articles for Resource Sharing & AubieExpress (AU users)
* Processing articles found in Auburn Libraries’ electronic databases
* Packaging books to be shipped out through UPS and Federal Express
* Opening packages with borrowed books as well as those returning to Auburn
* Checking returned books into Voyager and completing the Resource Sharing record in ILLiad
* Using the microfilm/microfiche reader/scanners to create pdf scans for electronic delivery
* Answering phones in a business-like manner

Minimum Qualifications
Currently enrolled student at Auburn University
* Report for the shift on time
* Interest in public service and delivery of quality customer service
* Be willing to work as a team member while interacting with faculty, staff, and students
* Possess strong interpersonal and communications skills
* Exhibit dependability, multi-tasking, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment are imperative in this position
* Job frequently requires standing, walking, reaching, balancing, hearing, handling objects with hands, and occasionally lifting up to 25 pounds

Work Hours
Work Hours: Students can work up to 20 hours per week depending on availability and departmental needs.
