Looking for an Associate to work with the Financial Resource Management team and desk heads to optimize their financial resource footprint. This is a unique opportunity to interface with all major players in Trading, Financing, and Client Service organizations across Equities and Prime Financial Services.
Job summary
As an Associate within the Markets Financial Resource Management team, you will work with the Equities and Prime Financial Services management team and relevant desk heads to optimize their financial resource footprint. Your tasks will include, but are not limited to, assessing capital, balance-sheet and funding/liquidity needs, understanding regulatory constraints, and firm/Corporate and Investment Banking strategy and how this translates into challenges/opportunities for the business.
You will interface with Trading, Financing, and Client Service organizations across Equities and Prime Financial Services, as well as a broad range of Corporate and Investment Banking and Corporate support functions, as we develop strategies for optimal resource deployment and enhancing profitability for the Lines of Business under our remit.
You will also be part of, and interface with, the broader Markets FRM / Markets Portfolio Management team and support the cross-product needs of other Markets Lines of Business, including Rates, Credit, SPG, FI Financing, etc.
To succeed in the role, you should have a background in finance, trading, or structuring, with knowledge of securities (cash and financing) and derivatives products spanning all major asset classes. Ideally, you will also have an understanding of one or more of the following: funding, balance sheet dynamics, liquidity, and capital.
Job responsibilities:
* Become a subject matter expert on capital, balance sheet, funding, and liquidity, and understand how these financial constraints create challenges/opportunities for the Equities and PFS franchises.
* Play an instrumental role in establishing integrated capital and funding strategy across Markets Trading businesses.
* Analyze key financial metrics driving performance across different equity trading strategies and products.
* Understand the effects of internal policy and external regulatory changes to help manage balance sheet, funding, liquidity, and capital-related costs/charges within the Markets business.
* Support key regulatory requirements and projects such as CCAR, FRTB, and Recovery & Resolution.
* Execute value-add FRM strategic initiatives which will enhance business profitability.
* Develop new and improved reporting tools and analytics to improve FRM team capabilities, and partner with MPM Data Analytics and Technology to create new Big Data solutions for the business.
* Prepare material/presentations that report on FRM team insights and initiatives to senior management.
* Assist with other ad-hoc strategic and business transformation projects.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
* Understanding of accounting, balance sheet, funding, and regulatory principles and their application.
* Self-directed, highly motivated, and able to work independently on multiple conflicting priorities and under pressure. Proactive and entrepreneurial.
* Good interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to interact comfortably with a variety of businesses, management, and control functions.
* Strong analytical skills, a quantitative mindset, and excellent attention to detail.
* Excellent Excel and PowerPoint skills.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
* Experience and/or awareness of market, credit, and liquidity risk aspects of financial products in both cash and derivatives instruments is an advantage.
This role encompasses the performance of regulated activity. The successful candidate will therefore be subject to meeting regulatory requirements in the assessment of fitness, propriety, knowledge, and competence (as assessed by the Firm) and (where appropriate) approval by the relevant regulatory authorities to carry out such activities.
