The Southampton Acute and Crisis Psychology Team is excited to offer a fixed term psychological practitioner / therapist post, and we are seeking to recruit an accredited CBT, MBT or CAT therapist to join our team.
Antelope House is a modern acute mental health inpatient and psychiatric intensive care unit, housing the Southampton Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Team (CRHTT). The Psychology Team offers high quality, recovery-focused care to adults with a range of mental health needs, across inpatient and crisis services. We work trans-diagnostically with various presentations, including psychosis, trauma, and relational difficulties. We are a cohesive team focused on quality improvement and service development, and we hope to find someone who shares this drive and enthusiasm. The role can be challenging but rewarding, and our team values transparency, empathy, and humour to create a supportive dynamic within the service.
The successful applicant will have experience in providing assessments, formulation, and adapted brief MBT, CAT, or CBT for patients in the acute phase of their illness. Knowledge of and training in Comprehend, Cope and Connect (CCC) will be integral to the role, and the successful candidate will be expected to engage in this training.
This is a fixed term post for 12 months. We would also be happy to consider offering this as a secondment to a suitable candidate.
Main duties of the job
* To provide assessment and formulation for people referred to the team.
* To offer evidence-based brief psychological group and/or individual interventions where appropriate.
* To exercise autonomous professional responsibility for assessing, treating, and contributing to recommendations for care/discharge plans for patients whose problems may require longer-term psychological treatment.
* To communicate to patients in a highly skilled and sensitive manner information concerning the assessment, including formulations of the individual's difficulties and the basis for treatment recommendations.
* To conduct detailed risk assessments and to contribute to the collaborative and multi-professional assessment and management of risks posed by individuals.
* To contribute to psychological understanding and care for the benefit of all patients of the service across all settings and agencies serving the patient group.
* To be directly involved in the delivery of teaching, training, and continuing professional development both within the service, the Trust, and via appropriate local academic institutions.
* To deliver clinical supervision to service staff in relation to CCC, within own levels of competence and in accordance with professional practice guidelines.
