Role Overview
We are hiring for a Senior Mobile QA Engineer to join our Mobile squad. We recently launched v1 of our mobile app across iOS and Android, which houses mobile versions of all of our different web products in one place. The mobile app has been well received by our customers and the squad are working quickly to build new features and replicate the functionality of our web products. Quality is a critical part of how we build products at Benefex, currently the Mobile Engineers and our Lead QA have been owning the testing for the squad, but based on the roadmap we need an expert in mobile QA to own this moving forward.
We're looking for someone who can work closely with the team and understand the complexity of multiple products in one mobile app. You'll be tasked with defining the QA strategy for Mobile, driving automation testing and ensuring best practices are adhered to.
Responsibilities
* Design, develop and execute automated tests using Appium across different platforms (iOS and Android).
* Review defects, new features and run tests manually if necessary.
* Collaborate with multiple teams across the business. We have one mobile app and various engineering teams.
* Coordinate with different teams before the releases: review and advise them on automated test results.
* Participate in code reviews, ensuring adherence to best practices across the QA chapter.
* Provide mentorship for QA team members who would like to learn mobile testing.
* Maintain and improve comprehensive test and feature documentation.
* Contribute to the overall QA strategy by suggesting and implementing process improvements, tools and technologies.
* Own and coordinate regular releases.
What are we looking for?
* "Senior" level engineer, both in technical output (leading more complex features/services, technical decision making, owning critical services/projects) and impact on the wider team (mentoring, knowledge sharing, raising standards).
* Passion for engineering and continuous learning.
* A pragmatic approach, someone with the ability to understand the big picture (business, product and tech), factor in all considerations and choose the best way forward.
* A mindset of taking ownership, identifying and solving problems, able to navigate complex challenges.
* Excellent communicator and collaborator, working effectively within and across squads to deliver.
* Technical proficiency:
o Proven automation testing experience on mobile applications using Java.
o Experience working with complex, multi product mobile apps across different stacks and architectures.
o Proven experience with Appium or XCUITest or similar.
o Experience testing both iOS and Android platforms.
o Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
o Expertise in RESTful API testing.
o Knowledge of tools like Postman, Charles Proxy or Proxyman.
o Manual and automation experience in cloud-based mobile testing services such as Saucelabs or BrowserStack.
