Highly Specialist Paediatric Dietitian in Ketogenic Diet Therapy

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced dietitian to join our team of 16 paediatric dietitians and 4 paediatric dietetic assistants, to expand their skills in the area of paediatric dietetics.
This post is to work within the Paediatric Neurology Service providing Ketogenic Diets to children with epilepsy and other metabolic disorders where the treatment is proven to be effective. You will work closely with the other ketogenic dietitians, ketogenic DA and the Consultant Neurologist to provide this service.
We require a motivated and innovative dietitian with good clinical skills and a broad knowledge in the area of paediatric dietetics. You will have good interpersonal skills and an ability to work well as part of a team. Some experience in Ketogenic diets will be beneficial but not essential and training would be provided.
Additionally, you will also work as part of a larger team of dietitians in this busy London teaching hospital.
Main duties of the job
To work as a member of the Paediatric Dietetic team at St Georges Hospital. You will be a clinical specialist responsible for the nutrition and dietetic management of patients on Ketogenic diets.
You will provide Ketogenic diets to children with drug resistant epilepsy and other conditions where the diet is indicated, as a member of a multidisciplinary team, and demonstrate a high level of expertise within this specialist area. You will work independently to deliver the service and be an expert in your field. You will have a significant in-depth level of understanding across paediatric disease groups acquired through experience within the specialism and continuing post graduate training and study.
In addition, you will be actively involved in the trusts clinical governance programme by taking lead responsibility for ensuring continuing professional development, audit and research activities within this specialist area. You will follow evidence-based practice. You will be an active multidisciplinary team member and educator; to develop nutrition policies and guidelines; lead on and participate in audit and research related to your specialist area in order to improve health outcomes and develop the role and service.

We are a base trainer for student dietitians and are actively involved in the training of other staff.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* HCPC current registration
* Evidence of continuing professional development
* Membership of BDA and relevant specialist group
Experience
* Postgraduate experience of working in acute dietetic services at a specialist level
* Experience of undertaking clinical audit/research in relevant clinical area
* Experience in the clinical supervision of students/junior staff
* Clinical experience of working in Paediatric Ketogenics and/or Neurology
Skills
* Excellent oral and written communication skills with people from a wide variety of backgrounds
* Ability to prioritise own workload and that of others
* Motivation and behavioural change skills
Knowledge
* Working at Masters level or equivalent in speciality area
* Knowledge of dietetics within the NHS
