The Underwriting Fraud Investigator will handle referrals on all aspects of application fraud; from organised fraud, opportunistic misrepresentation, and technical underwriting at point of sale and claims stage.
Our approach is to combine smart, data driven methods of identifying concerns with first class investigation and case handling.
The department acts as a referral point for the claims, underwriting and broker teams, therefore strong interpersonal skills are essential, as is the ability to manage multiple work streams and associated investigations.
The job holder will be working as part of an experienced team who have an entrepreneurial spirit and promote continual development of the department.
What will I be doing?
* Providing end to end investigation and management of application fraud referrals to reduce exposure to fraudulent activity at all stages of the policy life cycle
* Engaging with internal departments, external companies and intelligence agencies to identify cross-industry fraud exposure
* Utilising a variety of desktop tools, databases, and open sources to assist with profiling, to determine the direction of an investigation
* Using conversation management techniques to further determine risk and separate honesty from inconsistency when dealing with policy holders
* Demonstrating good decision-making abilities, using knowledge of relevant legislation and principles of technical underwriting to support the outcome of investigations
* Delivering high levels of productivity across a variety of referral streams, meeting key performance KPI and SLA objectives
What do I need?
You'll need:
* Minimum of 2 years insurance experience, preferably in a counter fraud environment
* Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in data analysis tools are essential. Good communication and interviewing skills are also important.
* Understand the various types of application fraud and how to combat this threat at each stage of a policy lifecycle.
* Experience with fraud detection and prevention software
* A working knowledge of key legislation
* Hold in-depth technical knowledge and the creativity to generate ideas.
* Experience in using Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
* Effective communication & interpersonal skills.
The ability to make key evidence based decisions is essential
