Here at Sussex Equine Hospital, we are looking for a Senior Veterinary Surgeon to join our team. You will contribute to the management, organisation, and financial performance of the practice by working with the Clinical Director(s), while also providing support, guidance, and professional mentorship to all colleagues within Sussex Equine.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Support and develop the veterinary and nursing team within a mentorship culture and attentiveness to wellbeing.
* Plan 24-hour cover in accordance with the practice rota.
* Examine and assess all inpatients; write up all cases in full.
* Monitor hospitalised patients regularly and communicate information to the nursing staff.
* Inform clients of test results and update on progress after treatment.
* Communicate positively with clients regarding progress, results, diagnosis, prognosis, treatment options, and costs.
* Start consultations promptly and avoid running over whenever possible.
* Consider referral of the case if in the animal's best interest.
* Provide clients with a high standard of customer care and service.
* Understand the financial targets of the business and apply financial due diligence throughout the group.
* Ensure all work is correctly priced and discounts applied.
* Follow and apply all IVC group and local protocols and policies.
* Maintain financial due diligence regarding cost control and client growth.
This is a full-time role working 40 hours Monday – Friday, however, we are happy to discuss a rota that may suit you better.
You will be supported by an RCVS Tier 3 accredited hospital facility providing all routine and emergency surgical, medical, and dentistry requirements. Diagnostic and treatment modalities include radiography, ultrasonography, laser treatments, shockwave therapy, nuclear scintigraphy, CT, MRI, laparoscopy, and an in-house laboratory.
