My client based in Ulverston is looking for a Test Engineer (FAT 3)
Job Summary:
The duties within the Test and Inspection department are best categorised in work definitions and assigned to various job roles. The Test engineer is additionally required to deputise in the absence of the Lead Test Engineer.
Requirements:
Experience Functional Testing Siemens, GE, Schneider & Qualitrol Relays
Experience with Omicron Test Kits and Test Universe.
IEC 61850 Experience (Desirable)
Great Communication skills to deal with customers.

Responsibilities:
Function Testing
Testing operation of relays/instruments using secondary injection test sets, voltage sources and measuring instruments
Testing contact operation of relays using simulators and continuity tester
Checking/testing functionality of circuits using schematic diagrams
Programming of relays to supplied documentation, schematic diagrams and programmable setting files and logic
Goods Receipt Inspection – Checking:
Paint/fabrication of bought out panels to works instruction and relevant engineering drawings
Contact positions of switches to special order documentation and sketches
Bought out mimic panels for dimension and layout to relevant drawings
Any specialist bought out equipment
Mechanical Inspection – Checking:
Tightness of fixings on assembled items
Layout of equipment to relevant engineering drawings and parts list
Fitting of labels to relevant engineering drawings and diagrams
Electrical Inspection – Checking:
Point to point wires - position, number and colour of connections
Contact position of switches - colour, rating and fitment of fuse/links
Checking correct relays and instruments are fitted
Checking tightness of connections and security of wiring
Insulation of wiring using 500V meggers and 0 – 5kV insulation testers
High voltage insulation tests on pilot wire protection circuits upto 15kV
High voltage insulation tests on bushing type insulators and outdoor circuit breakers using 0 – 100kV insulation tester
Documentation
Raising test documentation (product inspection progress/fault sheets and standard test specification)
Raising goods return documentation for rejected product
Raising warehouse accept documentation
Checking correct drawings are issued to works instruction and correct testing procedure is carried out
Raising test certification
Raising special test documentation
Contacts
Reporting to the Lead Test Engineer and Operations Director
Liaising with all other departments to complete the job
Liaising with suppliers and customers
Demonstrating functional testing and factory acceptance tests
Other Duties
Calibration of instruments and special tools
Ensuring health and safety of client inspectors via companies procedures.
Identification and purchase of tools and instruments
QA documentation
Ensuring jobs meet programme target dates
Maintenance of batteries and test equipment
Design and manufacture of specialist test equipment
Working on site testing/commissioning of my clients products
Supervising, developing and motivating staff
Overseeing all areas of test and ensuring the smooth running of all processes
Ensuring that products are manufactured in line with the company’s quality systems, processes and procedures
Ensuring Health and Safety rules and regulations are adhered to and all matters are dealt with in line with the company’s Health and Safety policy
Working closely with departments to ensure handovers are completed
Maintaining housekeeping standards to ensure a clean and safe workplace
Resource planning and job allocation in the Chief Test Engineer’s absence
