At Briercliffe Surgery we have an exciting opportunity for a receptionist / administrator to join the team.
It is the responsibility of each Receptionist to:
1. Assist in the smooth running of the practice, the reception area and to project a positive and friendly image to our patients and other professionals who may contact us either in person or via the telephone.
2. Facilitate patients accessing the clinical care provided by the practice.
3. Support the GPs and Nurses in providing that care.
4. Act as first point of contact for anyone accessing the practice.
5. Work at a fast pace across a range of general and specialist administrative tasks and provide efficient support and assistance to senior managers.
6. Adapt to changing roles and responsibilities according to business requirements.
Main duties of the job

You will be required to use your exceptional organisational and prioritising skills, combined with a passion for helping and assisting others. Problem solving skills on a day-to-day basis surrounding issues relating to your work are essential. Furthermore, you will also enjoy working closely as a team to achieve shared objectives and ensure daily priorities are delivered. Patients expect a high standard of healthcare and outstanding customer service, so working as a team to meet and manage these expectations is important. Prior knowledge of the NHS and EMIS Web would be an advantage but full training will be given.
Job responsibilities
1. Ensure that all visitors and telephone callers to the practice are greeted professionally.
2. Manage all telephone calls appropriately and use the care navigation template at all times.
3. Manage the flow of patients arriving at the reception desk for appointments, prescriptions, or queries.
4. Complete new patient registrations daily.
5. Demonstrate a willingness to learn new skills, such as medical coding, insurance, and private work completion.
6. Using Care Navigation, direct patients to an appropriate clinician or service ensuring protocols and policies are strictly adhered to.
7. Ensure that repeat prescriptions and email prescriptions are generated accurately and efficiently within the 48 hours specified by the practice.
8. Exhibit excellent time-keeping skills and an organised approach to work.
9. Review all incoming correspondence, input pertinent information into the patients' electronic medical record in accordance with the Coding Protocol.
10. Organise the medical record of patients you are coding, linking problem titles, group system development, and assigning the appropriate status to medical information.
11. Carry out administrative related tasks as delegated by Clinical Lead and Practice Manager.
Person Specification
Experience
* Significant previous experience in an NHS patient-facing environment.
* Working knowledge of EMIS web.
* Experience of working in a GP practice.
* Experience of working on reception.
* Familiarity with medical terminology.
* Experience with coding.
Aptitude, skills and competencies
* Good communicator with a pleasant manner.
* Aptitude for clerical systems and a good level of IT competency.
* Accurate and efficient worker.
Qualifications
* Good level of education to GCSE standard or equivalent.

£11.50 an hour. Enhanced hourly rate of 50p per hour, if no sickness in previous month.
