Southampton City Council are looking for an experienced individual to join us as a Quantity Surveyor Estimator. About the role: You will be part of the busy Contracts and Commercial Services team responsible for delivering multi-million-pound estate improvement and fire safety programmes within our properties. You will be assisting managers with specific planned and programmed work projects including, surveying, measurement, procurement, giving advice, interpreting contract works and project requirements, providing tender and quotation documents, interim valuations, reports and information to enable effective project management, ensuring that all schemes are completed on time and to budget in conjunction with any procurement strategy that the Council has in place. In addition, you will also have an understanding of and the ability to interpret the policies and procedures which underpin service delivery within Housing Operations. It is essential for you to have a practical understanding of construction / property maintenance industry as well as the ability to use CAD and Microsoft Project systems. About you: As the work is varied a flexible approach is required to meet changing needs and tight deadlines. You will be liaising with residents, peers and colleagues on a daily basis so communication and customer focus will be essential to the role. We are looking for someone who has the ability to build successful working arrangements and partnerships with other internal and external service providers and ensure that productivity levels are maintained across all areas of responsibility. The successful applicant must have a full driving licence. You will also be required to undergo a DBS check.
