Band 7 Senior Practice Placement Facilitator - Secondment / fixed term 12 month opportunity (Full time or 32 hours)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated person to work as a Senior Practice Placement Facilitator within the Education and Practice Development Team. We are seeking to appoint an experienced clinical practitioner to this post; who will be responsible for ensuring that South Tees NHS Foundation Trust provides high quality practice placements to meet the requirements of students on NHS funded healthcare training programmes.
Applications are invited from motivated and experienced nurses who have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and are able to work autonomously across a variety of different areas both within hospital and community settings.
The post holder will have nursing, midwifery or allied health professions experience (as appropriate) in order to be able to provide advice and support for students during their clinical placements when undertaking work based learning. This will ensure that learners receive quality practice learning opportunities in alignment with the NMC standards for pre-registration education, with regards to placement areas, supervision and achievement of learning outcomes.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the ability to provide coaching and pastoral support to all learners.
They will work in partnership with clinical collaborative, Higher Education Institutions and NHS England (NHSE) to facilitate the continued development and maintenance of high quality practice placements for pre-registration student nurses, allied health professions and midwives.
To expand practice placement opportunities, as necessary, across a broad range of disciplines / professional areas in conjunction with guidance from NHSE/NMC/HCPC and in collaboration with relevant contacts from appropriate educational institutions.
To provide support and guidance to practice assessors / supervisors in order to facilitate the integration of theory and practice within the practice placement area.
To be a first point of contact for assessors / supervisors or registrants and offer guidance to students particularly when highlighting potential problems in relation to practice placement areas.
To ensure all students are rostered onto our internal systems and managed appropriately. They will contribute to driving the trust quality and safety priorities through education and role modelling.

Person specification
Knowledge and Skills
* Specialist knowledge of key issues relating to Pre-Registration Education and in-depth knowledge of the NMC standards of Education (2019) and/or HCPC standards of Education.
* Experience of practice placements and assessment/mentoring in practice.
* Extensive knowledge of NMC Nursing Curriculum and/or HCPC Curriculum.
* High level of commitment and passion for education and student learning.
* Innovative, effective time management, presentation and IT skills.
* Evidence of leading on service improvement/change management projects.
Qualifications
* Degree Registered Practitioner (NMC / HCPC).
* Recognised assessor/mentor qualification or equivalent demonstrable experience.
* Evidence of continuing professional development.
* PGCE Qualification.
Experience
* Up to date knowledge of student proficiencies in practice and recognition of pre-registration programme structures.
* Significant experience of coaching and mentoring / assessing students within practice.
* Management of student placements and audits.
* Experience dealing and resolving difficult situations.
* Proven leadership / operational management experience.
