Job Details: Harm Reduction Outreach Worker

We tackle poverty and disadvantage in communities, through mental health, drug and alcohol, housing and related support.
We have an exciting opportunity to join our County Durham Drug & Alcohol Recovery Service, which offers individualised support packages for people who are experiencing problematic drug and alcohol use.
The role will require working proactively to engage with individuals experiencing a range of different complexities and vulnerabilities, delivering a variety of harm reduction interventions on an outreach basis, and working towards supporting a small caseload of these cases towards engaging with wider treatment provision and support.
As directed by the Project Manager and Lead Practitioner, you will be an integral member of the dynamic multi-agency team, using your abilities and skills to:
* Deliver effective harm reduction interventions, including needle exchange, Blood Borne Virus interventions and advice around injecting related issues.
* Promote harm reduction, public health initiatives, messages and campaigns.
* Work with multi-agency partners to reduce the harms and comorbidities multiple disadvantage can bring.
About you...
* A relevant qualification in Health and Social Care.
* Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office programmes.
* Proven experience of being able to engage service users.
* Knowledge of completing service user assessments including comprehensive and risk assessments.
* Knowledge of safeguarding adult and child protection policies.
* Experience of supporting vulnerable people.
* A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle is essential.

Salary: The salary advertised above demonstrates the full earning potential for this role, starting salaries will allow for pay progression within the pay band.
