Your day-to-day
The main focus of your time will be in managing the pipeline, planning ahead and running end-to-end bid governance for the public sector team. This will encompass a variety of skills:
Creating winning proposals - Leads the development of quality bid submissions, interrogates client documentation and ensures responses meet scope requirements and scoring criteria through the writing process. Responsible for maintaining the content library.
Supporting team development - Working with the bid team to shape development plans, understand capability areas, and coach team members to confidently apply bid best practice across the end-to-end lifecycle including pre-bid planning, storyboarding, writing and retros.
Project managing the bid cycle - Forming and managing teams including the bid team, account team, SMEs and supply chain partners. Guiding teams through proactive communications and governance such as pipeline reviews, qualification and quality reviews.
Build and continuously improve capability – Help refine our bidding processes and implement best practice approaches such as capture planning, win strategies and value propositions. Analyse bidding data and identify trends to ensure we are always improving.
Your role
Leading all bid activities for the public sector team, including development of key client responses, proposals and pitches for new business and writing engaging content
Leading a small team of bid managers and writers including managing workload against the forward pipeline, ensuring they are supported to deliver winning bid content and strategy
Pre-qualifying opportunities submitted through Government frameworks and portals and keeping up to date on upcoming business opportunities across the public sector
Working alongside senior stakeholders across the business to improve position to win for strategic opportunities in the pipeline including developing value propositions
Ensure that we are listed on the right frameworks so that AND is represented most effectively on key routes to market and to support successful business development
Analyses complex procurement requirements for new clients, helping to shape bid and delivery models based on scope, deliverables, and contract specifications
Continually seeks innovative ways to improve bid team productivity, enhance collateral and bid success rates including facilitating ‘retros’ and ‘post-mortems’ focused on bid quality
Being an advocate for best practice bidding across the business
Supporting market development including contributing to the public sector growth strategy and working with growth leads to realise target account plans
To do that, it’s essential you bring the following:
Experience operating as a senior bid professional with recent experience of developing top quality approaches in the government and public sector, ideally digital transformation
Experience managing all aspects of bid submission for government frameworks such as G-Cloud, DOS or other CCS frameworks, delivering to high quality and winning standards
Experience of leading a small team of bid professionals, understanding how to play to your team’s strengths to deliver excellent quality content and submissions
A focus on developing people - ensuring that the team is well supported, have personal development plans and feel motivated by the opportunities on the forward pipeline
Ability to coordinate multiple projects and initiatives at one time. Must have demonstrable experience as a natural problem solver, focused on bringing ideas and solutions to the table
Relationship management skills - very strong at building relationships quickly, taking initiative to reach out to key stakeholders and communicate proactively across team boundaries
Comfortable in ambiguity and being part of a small, dynamic team, able to work autonomously but also an effective team player
Highly organised and systematic in your working style, with a high level of attention to detail
