We're seeking a dynamic e-commerce expert with a proven track record of driving online sales growth to elevate our digital performance and help us transform adventure travel from group tours to self-guided experiences.
In this pivotal role, you'll be responsible for the global commercial performance of our digital platforms, including our website and app. Your mission will be to drive growth by boosting traffic, converting visitors into leads and bookings, and maximizing transaction values.
You won’t be alone in this journey at Macs Adventure!You’ll build and lead a team of e-commerce specialists, ensuring all strategies are data-driven and customer-centric. Collaborating with our digital and brand marketing teams, you’ll optimize on-site content and traffic, while working closely with our tech team to enhance the user experience and make our platforms the best in the industry.

With over 20 years’ experience in active travel, we welcome over 30,000 customers on over 600 walking and cycling trips to destinations around the world. What you’ll do
Functional leadership
* Develop, own and execute a global e-commerce strategy that delivers year-on-year growth, both in terms of transaction volume (bookings) and value (sales).
* Own the e-commerce P&L; deliver against online sales and growth targets.
* Be the functional expert in the business on all things e-commerce, utilising your industry knowledge and connections to develop Macs’ capability and build competitive advantage.
Product merchandising
* Curate the product catalogue in each market.
* Lead product merchandising strategies to maximise sales in each market, including promotion, placement, content enhancement and introduction of ancillary revenues.
* Collaborate with the Travel Product team to ensure tour offerings meet customer demands and new product is developed in line with customer browsing and purchasing behaviours.
Analytics & CRO
* Define e-commerce KPIs and performance dashboard.
* Utilise data analytics to track and report on KPIs, monitor customer behaviour, and drive informed decision-making.
* Plan, undertake and evaluate a programme of Conversion Rate Optimisation (CRO) and feedback into the web development roadmap.
Customer journey optimisation
* Implement triggers and automations that prompt valuable actions at key moments in the customer journey (emails/notifications).
* Improve user experience to drive conversion and satisfaction.
E-commerce operations
* Optimise and ensure smooth running of all operational aspects of the e-commerce platform, from the payment gateway to the booking process.
Tech collaboration
* Provide commercial input on user experience initiatives, ensuring that business goals align with user needs.
* Act as the commercial liaison for Tech, defining business requirements for UX and tech projects related to website functionality, new features, and optimisations.
What you’ll bring
* Proven track record delivering growth through e-commerce for consumer brands, preferably in retail or travel sectors
* Previous experience owning commercial targets from digital platforms (app, web)
* A serious love of online data and experience of all the sources of online data insight
* A passion for web development and user experience, with examples of launching new sites
* Experience of developing mobile apps for e-commerce
* An understanding of developing e-commerce sites for international markets (ex-UK)
* Strategic vision, strong problem-solving abilities and demonstrable commercial acumen
* Excellent stakeholder management, shaping and driving informed decision making across the business
* An ability to identify and deliver effective change, build a strong collaborative team and a best-in-class e-commerce function
* A passion for the outdoors and active travel
