An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Core CAMHS service for an experienced clinician to join the Intake part of the team. The ideal candidate will take on an advanced practitioner/lead role on incoming referrals, being the first point of contact in the Core CAMHS service, welcoming families and young people, safety planning care and ensuring a robust seamless and safe journey through to treatment.
The role will provide clinical oversight and involvement in the consultation and assessment part of the service and will require some supervision of other staff.
This post will work closely with the Team leader ensuring service coverage and safe management of those awaiting intervention.
Main duties of the job
1. Plan, manage and respond to incoming referrals into the Core CAMHS Team.
2. Assess, plan, implement and evaluate treatment/interventions and care for young people and families presenting with mental health needs. Clinically assess patient needs from a physiological and psychological perspective, and plan clinical care accordingly.
3. Assist the Lead professional and leadership team with supporting clinical staff supervision and professional development.
4. Provide assistance to the Team leader, aiding with waiting list management and monitoring to provide a safe and effective service.

Knowledge
* Full understanding of relevant policy, legislation, drivers and their application to clinical and service area, e.g. Mental Capacity Act, Social Inclusion, Child Protection
* Full understanding/application of relevant clinical practice/standards/audit within identified clinical area
* Demonstrate specialist understanding of mental health difficulties and how it may impact children and young people
* Demonstrate specialist knowledge of the issues surrounding work and the impact it can have on mental health
* Basic IT skills

* Effective inter-personal skills and experience in mentoring
* Ability to work positively within a team
* The ability to be resilient and maintain one’s own wellbeing whilst working in stressful situations, managing a high volume caseload and completing a training programme
* Work within the culture of improving working lives and working time directive
* Broad knowledge of Trust policies and procedures in order to effectively lead and manage others

Effort and environment
* Ability to commute between the various sites
* Requirement for frequent concentration e.g. assessments, care plans. The work may be unpredictable

Experience
* Demonstrable experience of working in mental health services, a minimum of 5 years’ experience
* Experience of providing evidence-based psychological interventions
* Experience with routine outcome monitoring
* Experience of teaching and liaising with other professionals
* Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD) relevant to the clinical area at specialist/advanced level of care
* Evidence of development of clinical leadership skills and able to demonstrate the impact of this on practice change/development
* Ability to effectively Chair meetings
Qualifications
* Registered Health professional with a professional bodies such as NMC
* Postgraduate/masters level learning significant working experience at a clinical lead level

Where operationally feasible the Trust supports agile working, there is an expectation of attendance of 1 day per week at a Trust site as a minimum operationally.
