IPC Lead - PPG Plymouth
Practice Plus Group are now actively looking for an experienced Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Lead for our Hospital in Plymouth. We are interested in hearing from individuals who are a Registered Practitioner with several years clinical experience, hold a Diploma in Infectious Prevention or MSc. Infectious Control or relevant field, have experience of teaching and presenting and have practical, hands-on experience of undertaking audits and development plans.

We are an elective surgical centre providing arthroplasty surgery, orthopaedics, general surgery, endoscopy and cataract surgery. The clinical departments include Outpatients, Day Surgery Unit, Inpatient Ward, Theatres, Endoscopy suite, Radiography, Physiotherapy and Pharmacy, with care provided by a multidisciplinary team.
This position is open to applications looking for full-time (37.5 hrs) or part-time (Min. 22.5hrs) positions.
Salary: £43,100 FTE p.a (pro-rata) - Depending on experience.

What you'll be doing
Key duties of the role:
* To lead the monitoring, surveillance and investigation of infections and for advising on preventative and control measures relating directly or indirectly to patient care.
* To provide advice, education and support in all matters relating to infection control.
* To be the autonomous leader on the hospital site for infection control.
* To lead in programmes/projects relating to infection control.
* Provide expert advice on all aspects of the prevention and control of infection, which is in line with Practice Plus Group policy.
* To establish, maintain and recommend when there are new developments within the speciality, an effective and efficient system for the prevention, surveillance, investigation and control of infections in hospital.
* To lead on ANTT within the service and ensure safe practice.
* To review and advise on the standard of cleaning within the service and ensure that cleaning and environmental audits are acted upon.
* To work with Pharmacy colleagues on the AMR Strategy ensuring a reduction in antimicrobial usage.
* To participate in the local and national water safety and ventilation groups.

What we’ll look for in you
Skills and Experience - Essential:
* Registered Practitioner with clinical experience.
* Recognised qualification in Infection Prevention – Post Graduate Diploma (Level 7) or MSc Infection Control or relevant Level 7 modules.
* Mentorship qualification.
* Experience in teaching and presenting.
* Evidence of professional development.
* Practical experience of undertaking audit and developing action plans.
Desirable:
* Evidence of recent educational and professional development in aseptic technique and IV therapy.
* Knowledge of research and audit including implementation of findings, review of outcomes and report writing.
