About the role Our Environmental Health team aims to make a lasting impact on the quality of our natural and built environment. An opportunity has arisen for a fixed-term role to support our existing Air Quality and Industrial Pollution Specialist for a period of six months. We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join the service as a Senior Environmental Health Practitioner that will specialise in air quality and industrial pollution. Providing a specialism for air quality, you will play an important role in delivering and overseeing our statutory and non-statutory functions related to local air quality management and pollution control. This includes managing the air quality monitoring network across the borough, data capture and analysis, production and submission of technical reports to the relevant government departments, including the annual status report and air quality action plan (or air quality strategy). The post holder will also have responsibility to manage and progress the action plan. We are looking for someone with the following qualifications and skills: BSc or MSc degree in Environmental Health or equivalent air quality qualification Member of the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health or the Institution of Environmental Sciences or Institute of Air Quality Management. previous experience in environmental health and pollution services excellent written and verbal communication skills strong analytical skills Crawley is a great place to work, with a thriving business district and excellent transport connections including nearby Gatwick Airport. We are based in our modern Town Hall which opened in 2023 and is located a short walk from the town centre and railway station. Additional information Fixed term contract for six months. The role is 17.5 hours per week, working a full day Mondays and Tuesdays and a morning on Wednesdays. A full and current UK driving licence is a requirement of the role.
