We are looking for a full-time receptionist to join our large, friendly GP Surgery.
You will be required to work occasional Saturday mornings on a rota basis.
You will handle telephone calls in a positive and efficient manner; assist with front desk duties and general administration. Reception and Customer Service experience preferred.
This is a full-time role for 36 hours per week. Ideally, this will be over 4 full days from 8 am - 6 pm.
Main duties of the job
As part of a team, you will cover receptionist duties on a rota basis in a professional, confidential, and caring manner to provide maximum levels of patient care and promote the surgery in a positive light.
You will contribute to the smooth and efficient running of reception, undertaking all tasks and ensuring deadlines are met.

South Street Surgery operates from three premises in the town of Bishops Stortford, providing services for about 23,500 patients. We work closely with the other local practices in Stort Valley and Villages PCN to develop our vision for the future of Primary Care Services in this area.

Job responsibilities
Responsibilities include:
* Providing the maximum level of patient service.
* Ensuring patients are dealt with whilst employing the maximum level of confidentiality and understanding.
* Maintaining a high standard of work under pressure.
* Dealing with all aspects of work with the utmost discretion and observing the strictest confidentiality.
* Answering the telephone lines promptly and professionally, taking and passing on accurate messages by task or email as appropriate. At the request of the GPs, return telephone calls on their behalf.
* Dealing with members of the public and other visitors to the surgery, forwarding any complaints and patient feedback to the relevant person in the first instance.
* Making appointments using the surgery's computerized system.
* Assessing and redirecting patient queries via the E-Consult system.
* Accurate inputting of data onto the system including basic scanning of documents.
* Answering inquiries face to face, by telephone, and via the website dashboard (e.g., changes of address, prescription requests, providing general information).
* Receiving and instructing new patients.
* Issuing prescriptions and dealing with inquiries as per Practice protocol.
* Ensuring that reception areas are kept tidy and promote a professional image at all times.
* Ensuring that check-in screens are programmed daily.
* General reception administration duties as required and in times of extreme staff shortages to assist all members of staff at the Practice with administrative tasks when time permits.

* EXPERIENCE:
* Primary Care or NHS experience.
* KNOWLEDGE:
* Knowledge and understanding of primary care.
