Contract Manager (Cables) - Renewable Energy Eden Scott is pleased to be supporting their renewable energy developer client with the appointment of a Contracts Manager (cables) to help manage the execution phase of one or more cable packages (including both cable supply and T&I Elements) in partnership with Package Manager and Engineering teams. This is an exciting opportunity to get involved in a project constructing one of Scotland’s largest offshore wind farms, the windfarm project is 1000MW in size and the power it generates will be transmitted 85 kilometres to a new substation from where it will enter the national transmission system. This is a significant project that will contribute towards the UK's carbon emissions reduction targets. Upon completion, its 72 turbines will generate enough electricity to power almost half the homes in Scotland. This is a full-time contract opportunity (outside IR35). Projected start date - (January 2025). Working predominately from home with some travel to the Edinburgh Office for meetings as and when required (around 2-3 days a month). Main Tasks and Responsibilities: • Manage the execution phase of one or more cable packages (including both cable supply and T&I elements) in cooperation with Package Manager and Engineering teams. • Be responsible for the commercial terms of the Employer’s Requirements including conditions of contract. • Engage with Package Managers and Engineering team members to ensure that tender and contract terms match scope and deliverable requirements. • Assessment and evaluation of tender offers. • Detailed and robust negotiation of pricing with bidders. • Lead the negotiation and interactions with the bidders. • Work in partnership with Legal Counsel on tendering and contract issues. • Carry out a commercial evaluation of offers and coordinate and collate the overall evaluation. • Work with Package Managers and Engineering to produce contract award recommendations and present to senior management for approval. Contract Management: • Proactively manage contractor claims and variations. • Proactively obtain cost savings from contracts by ensuring value engineering opportunities are fully investigated and developed. • Create and maintain contractual obligation registers and monitor to ensure that contractual obligations are being met by both ICOL and the Contractors. • Manage Contractor applications for payment, liaising with Package Managers to ensure payment obligations are being met. • Engage with document control to ensure correct processes are being adhered to by package management and Contractors. • Engage with finance and legal stakeholders to ensure alignment with ICOL policies. • Contribute to commercial risk assessment and actively contribute to risk mitigation. • Manage contractor compliance with Tier 2 / 3 open book tendering processes to deliver best possible value to the project. • Respond to Contractor’s letters in a timely manner. Role Requirements: • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. • Strong commercial focus through having a clear understanding of the business case for offshore wind project. • Ability to clearly plan, communicate and execute the requirements to progress through the stages of contract award and contract execution. • A track record in delivering cable contracts and managing large scale contracts. • Experience of working from own initiative, taking ownership of work / projects and motivating team members to deliver team objectives or projects. • 3rd level qualification in engineering, business or finance.
