The Better Queensway Project is the biggest regeneration project the Council has undertaken and aims to deliver c1700 new homes in the heart of Southend, the project is multifaceted and works across all areas of the Council from procurement to highways, housing and social value to environmental impacts. The project is currently working on the re-alignment of the road network to enable the positive change that is needed in the area. We are looking for a Project Support Officer to join the Better Queensway project team on a full time and fixed term contract basis ( 18 months ). This project is well established and moving into the next phase needs more in-house support to drive the regeneration objectives. This role is being offered on a hybrid basis which is a blend of working from home and attending the office. As a project support officer, you will provide support and administrative co-ordination to the project managers for specific projects, where necessary. You will also provide administrative support to the financial processes within IT, ensuring robust records are kept and controls put in place. You will undertake preparation, development and checking of project documents ensuring compliance with project management processes and project aims. Leading on preparing and co-ordinating agendas, supporting papers, room bookings, minute taking, presentation preparation etc for all meetings. As a project support officer, you will provide proactive, insightful and meticulous project support working towards the overall project vision of the council. The candidate will need to support the Partnership Board, Project Team, LLP and other meetings and events through leading on preparing and coordinating meetings and paperwork, as well as work alongside different work stream leads to progress specific tasks relevant to the current stage of the project. To be successful in this role, previous experience of working in a similar role or within a project support / management environment will be desirable but not essential. It is vital that you can build strong and meaningful relationships and communicate effectively as you will be dealing with people from different backgrounds as well as variety of stakeholders and external agencies. Ability to challenge constructively, effectively listen and influence immediate peer group and managers will be essential for this role. This role will suit a proactive self-starter who is able to work independently and on own initiative, as well as be able to work well in a team as required. It is essential that you have intermediate MS excel knowledge and you are proficient in the use of various Microsoft packages.
