This opportunity is to cover off peak activity for a likely duration of 6 months in the form of an FTC to be based out of our Ampthill site. The work will allow you to work within a CNC precision machine shop environment as a skilled CNC Miller.
You will be working within a CNC precision machine shop environment, programming, setting and tool selection, proving out and operating multiple machine tools including multi-axis machining centres with various programming languages (3 to 6 axis) to produce R&D, high-value 1-off or low-volume production component parts.
Responsibilities include:
1. Support and input to the development of machining processes and tooling/fixture design.
2. Tool selection, optimisation, and design liaising with tooling suppliers.
3. Mentoring and training others, including apprentices.
4. Working to specifications, procedures, and engineering drawings.
5. Developing and improving work procedures and processes with the engineering team.
6. Problem-solving machine issues and facilitating corrective actions.
7. Prioritising workload to meet deliverables and support production schedules for machine utilisation.
8. Supporting high-quality standards and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required skills, qualifications, and experience:
1. Ability to work from detailed engineering drawings producing conforming products.
2. Competent CNC Milling experience; turning experience is desirable.
3. Proficiency in programming/post-processing using Fanuc & Heidenhain languages.
4. Understanding and execution of CAD/CAM software.
5. Experience with multi-axis machining methods (3 to 6 axis).
6. Good knowledge of inspection techniques and measuring equipment.
7. General engineering workshop practices and manufacturing experience.
8. Ability to work independently from concept through to manufacture.
9. Adherence to housekeeping and 6S standards, mechanical and manual Lifting processes, and high awareness of CoSHH and H&S standards.
10. Competent computer skills including MS Office and MRP systems.
11. Good communication and reporting skills.
This role requires SC clearance and is based in Ampthill, Bedfordshire, UK. The position is full-time, 37.5 hours per week, for a duration of 6 months, with a 4xFlex working schedule.
