What you’ll be doing – your accountabilities
The purpose of the Global Reach Platform Manager role is to look after the platform development/evolution and in-life performance of specific platform(s) including vendor engagement/support. Specifically, this role is accountable for:
1. Driving business performance, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
2. Managing stakeholders to enable network design and delivery.
3. Virtual/Matrix management of multidiscipline team(s) of Level 1 to 3 consisting typically of network designers, network delivery, network testers, network ops & professionals with multiple disciplines supporting the platform.
4. Delivering Platform transformation on behalf of BT’s Line of Businesses.
5. Leadership accountabilities: Budget and cost management working with our vendors and finance teams.
6. Matrix team management across BT business units.
7. Leading complex delivery programmes.
8. Influencing at senior levels strategic and Business decisions to do the right thing for BT and its customers.
9. Conducting myself with pride, honesty, and integrity in line with the BT Values.
10. Actively giving and receiving feedback on my performance.
Key decisions
1. Driving network service/performance levels.
2. Platform strategy direction and approval.
3. Ensuring platform security control and management.
4. Technical direction/implementation specific to platform evolution.
5. Vendor engagement driving operational excellence.
6. Resolution of platform wide issues (engaging with key stakeholders as appropriate).
7. Cost and return on investment working with procurement teams.
8. Implementation of platform roadmap (specifically driving network upgrades to address EoSL issues and capacity demands).
The skills you’ll need to succeed
1. Accomplished and experienced leadership skills.
2. Expert knowledge of the communications industry and relevant emerging network/software technologies.
3. Experience and proven ability to deliver large-scale transformational technology programmes.
4. Minimum 10 years experience in IT/Telecommunications in technical or product delivery.
5. Architectural and operational understanding in the Internet/VPN arena.
Experience you’d be expected to have
1. Successful track record delivering complex technology solutions.
2. Strong collaboration skills.
3. Proven track record in following through on good strategic decisions.
4. Successful track record in coaching and managing virtual teams across multicultural global environments.
5. Technical understanding/experience of IT infrastructure/enterprise applications would be advantageous.
