Our client, a leader in structural and secondary steel, industrial chimneys, green energy, MOD, and nuclear projects, is looking for a Strategic Buyer to join their team on a 6-month fixed contract. Key Responsibilities:
1. Manage and lead the procurement process for materials and services required for structural and secondary steelwork, industrial chimneys, green energy, MOD, and nuclear projects.
2. Develop and implement strategic sourcing strategies, ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of materials that meet the required quality standards.
3. Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors, managing long-term supplier relationships to secure the best value for the business.
4. Ensure the timely availability of materials and services, avoiding project delays while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.
5. Coordinate with project teams, engineers, and vendors to ensure smooth procurement processes and resolve any supply chain issues or disputes.
6. Develop and maintain accurate procurement records, including contracts, order history, and supplier performance reviews.
7. Monitor market trends, material costs, and supplier capabilities to identify cost-saving opportunities and mitigate supply risks.
8. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure that procurement requirements are aligned with project schedules and budgets.
9. Ensure compliance with all procurement policies and procedures, as well as industry standards and regulations.
The Ideal Candidate:
1. Proven experience as a buyer in the steelwork industry, with strong knowledge of materials, processes, and suppliers specific to structural steel, industrial chimneys, green energy, and sectors like MOD and nuclear.
2. Proven track record in strategic sourcing and procurement management, with a focus on cost-efficiency, quality, and timely delivery.
3. Strong negotiation skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with suppliers and stakeholders.
4. Experience working in a fast-paced, project-driven environment, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
5. Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with a proactive and solutions-focused approach to challenges.
6. Knowledge of procurement systems and tools, with experience maintaining accurate records and supplier performance metrics.
7. A proactive, detail-oriented individual with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
