SEN Teaching Assistant
U-Educate are currently looking for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistants for a small independent school which educates up to 76 pupils from early years to post 16. This is a full time, permanent role due to start as soon as possible.
All of pupils have an Education, Health and Care Plan in place, and we use a range of different therapies to support the challenges that pupils face.
For this SEN teaching assistant role will require you to have experience within SEN based provisions/schools. Your responsibilities will include:
* Supervision of students on a 1:1 or small group basis
* Provide additional learning support as identified.
* Support may involve personal care
* Supporting SEN and SEMH Needs
* Engage, motivate and encourage students to complete work set
* Make sure all students are focused and on track to meet their lesson objectives.
* Provide feedback to the classroom teacher on student’s progress and development
* Putting into practise individual Educational, Social, Behavioural and Personal Care Plans
* Attending to student’s physical, mental and emotional needs
* Work within a team environment to organise facilitate and lead a range of play based activities which include sports, arts and crafts, games, drama, dance, multi-media and adapted activities.
* Use detailed knowledge and specialist skills to modify and adapt activities as necessary under the overall direction and supervision of the teacher, in response to pupil needs. -
* Assume responsibility for the safety and welfare of pupils under his/her supervision, in line with the Safeguarding policy. -
* Provide intimate care in line with intimate care plan and policy. (if required) -
* Provide in class support to pupils with additional needs.
* Liaise with colleagues, Lead Teacher, SENCO and other internal and external relationships on day to day operational matter.
* Liaise with other relevant professionals, providing information as appropriate and implementing agreed strategies in line with advice.
* Participate in relevant training and development programmes both external and internal.
* Contribute to the set-up of activities at the beginning of sessions and clean down at the end of sessions.
* Complete any other duties as reasonably directed by the Lead Teacher or SLT Teacher
Requirements
* Previous experience within an educational setting supporting students with SEND
* Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant Qualification
* Experience with SLD, MLD and SEMH
* Ability to pass an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check to work with children
* Up to date Safeguarding Training (You can undertake a free course with U-educate if you have not got a safeguarding certificate dated within the last 12 months)
